Only tried a psych once in my life and it was shrooms (3 grams) good experience, i laughed my ass off and think i learned something but i dont remember much.

My question is, is it safe to take psychedelic drugs without doing damage to your brain? Obviously im not talking about abuse i am talking about tripping once in a while. Especially because i am still 19's year old (too young??) im scared i might do damage that is irreversible.

Also I cant help but feel drugs like acid and dmt are dangerous because it has a massive effect on the brain and honestly (REALISTICALLY) that cant be healthy. For some reason the only pysch i trust is shrooms (at least for now)

I would like some advice even tho most of the answers are going to be biased i want some opinions.
Should i begin my journey with psychs at such a young age or should i wait till i am older. Will using acid once mess me up? Is tripping on psycs even worth it?
THANKS IN ADVANCE

Psychedelic drugs on their own shouldn't damage your brain, but if you overdo things it can really get kind of nasty mentally, if you do things in moderation you will probably fine.

I have done lots of psychedelics and dissociatives in the past couple years, and when I come down I still seem perfectly "all there". Using drugs hasn't slowed me down mentally, but it has put me in some pretty dark places in my head. Just be careful.

Its the user, not the drug, that is the most damaging, I think this could be applied to any sort of drug really.

Sorry if this came off somewhat disjointedly, im high as fuck

I was 16 when I first started using psychedelics and im healthy to this day, iv noticed I can handle them very well compared to the average individual though, its different for everyone.

Imo, no psychedelics wont cause brain damage, they can surface pre existing mental illness's or problems you have pushed away in your mind but nothing thatll hurt your brain or body.

Mushrooms also can produce very profound intense mental affects just as much as dmt or lsd, imo mushrooms are highly unpredictable aswel because you dont know the actual dose in the fungus and quality ranges greatly, some I get you have to eat 4-5gs to trip nicely and then the main strain I get you only really have to eat 2gs maybe less so that shows ya how greatly the range im potency. I still love mushrooms though just gotta becareful like with everything else.

In a good set and setting and dose for your liking, lsd dmt mushrooms are all pretty safe imo they all are very powerful/ useful substances.

You can end up in dark places mentally at times but its apart of the experience imo and pulling yourself together to make it through whatever it is is apart of learning, thats me though everyones different.

Also I find with psychs is that you gotta be more worried about moving cars, fire, stairs than the drugs effect on you and your body that is if your consuming the right dose.

LSD and DMT are two compounds that have been studied extensively, and they are quite safe. By way of the serotonin system, psychedelics cause a temporary perturbation in how a certain type of cell in your brain (called pyramidal cells) process information, and this causes changes in how you perceive stimuli. Without considering the nuanced mental effects, from a physical standpoint most psychedelics are safer than aspirin when taken at reasonable dosages. DMT is especially devoid of toxicity, being a natural product of neurotransmitter metabolism.

Its ludicrous to assume that simply because a compound has a "massive effect" on the brain, it automatically implies that its harmful. There are plenty of ways to perturb brain function that don't lead to toxicity, in order to determine whether or not a drug is safe you have to look at the specific mechanism of action of the drug.

That being said, there are pitfalls in the psychedelic experience that are totally unrelated to toxicity: the primary one being the risk of becoming a highly impressionable whack-job with a bunch of crazy ideas.

Roger, my man, you took the words off of my finger tips. Well said.

Cool, this kind of makes me more comfortable with trying psycs.. I guess all i really want to know is am i too young to use? Will waiting till i am more mature be a wise thing to do and will it give me a better experience/ I am just curious what some of the veterans think. Also whats your favorite psyc and why?

i dont think youll have a exact answer its completely up to you if you think your ready to use psychedelics or not. ill be 20 this year and iv been using them since i was 16 and im fine. It is alot easier to take in and understand experiences while tripping the older i have got, i do think alot more while tripping now. when i was younger i didnt pay attention to much so i didnt get to experience what i could have at the time but you learn how to over time.

imo 19s fine if your healthy mentally and physically, got a safe set and setting all the safety precautions down and have done your research.

i dont really have a favorite psych but for the past year or so iv been really liking mushrooms, i really like them because they are really safe thousands of years of usage. easy to locate, the visuals are also very pretty. The main reason i like them is for the mind state they can put you in its very interesting to me. i like everything equally though some lsd and dmt are just as interesting to me along with mescaline which is on my to do list still.

my advice is to try to dose after youve achieved something like when your happy or in a really good mood and when you have time on your hands its best to do it that way ime, also do your research as much as possible. research everything you can about the substance your taking so if you come to any problems or kinks youll know whats happening or youll know what you need to do to make the situation better. also moderation is key always give yourself time to recoop and take in experience before you try to have new experiences.

best of luck to ya message me if you have anymore questions i could help with

We don't know you, so we can't really answer that question. I'd say 15 is not ok and 19 is perfectly fine, but then, it varies from people to people. Psychedelics are safer, in terms of toxicity, than aspirin or alcohol, which doesn't mean they're foolproof (well, nothing is)

The more you search and read about psychedelic experiences, from all kinds of sources, the most likely it is that you'll be ok. The fact that you're asking questions here is already a good sign. Prepare yourself, and see the trip as something that may help you know more about your own life - oh yes, and have fun too.

I'm the same age as you and I have had many wonderful psychedelic experiences, however I am still maturing, and many of the trials and tough times I've had with psychedelics could have been avoided had I approached them for the first time when I was older. I also might have learnt the lessons they taught me a lot quicker and been able to avoid myself a lot of meaningless seeking of answers that never led anywhere.

I first tripped at 17, and I don't think it was too young in the extent of doing me any harm - but I do think I would have gleamed a lot more from my early experiences by waiting longer. I think really this is something you should trust yourself on - if you do not feel you are quite ready, then don't feel like you should trip, if on the other hand you feel you are ready for it, go ahead, just exercise responsibility :)
