Second Opinion Social Thread v.NoT gives Random Thoughts for you!

^ You should make oatmeal raisin cookies and send some to NY. :P

Iiiiii am currently debating if I should chop off all my hair today. I donate my hair every couple years and it's currently about 10 inches long (well, from the chin). I want it to be gone! But I'm not sure how short I wanna go--I want to go super short like I used to, but that made me look like a dyke. :\

I made oatmeal coconut, they're delicious.

I had hair down to my bellybutton and chopped it all off and now have a short-medium cut that looks way better. It's nice cause I don't really have to brush or style it much! I like it anyway. Maybe have it so it's an inch or two longer than you had it before, perhaps in a different style?

"You can turn your back on a man, but never, ever turn your back on a drug. Especially when it's waving a razor sharp hunting knife in you face"
Truth.

Those sound delicious--Never heard of that combination.

Ended up letting my girlfriend cut it since she did a fantastic job on her hair not too long ago. Did an excellent job on mine: It's abouuut an inch long in the back and on the sides, and about two inches long on the top. Looks fantastic. :D

I haven't made a good sandwich in forever, and am thinking that today might be the day to break that dry spell. Taking all sammitch suggestions!

Currently I'm thinking of either avocado and potato chip (sounds unlikely, but is amazing) or a jalapeno popper sandwich for artery-clogging win.

Best sandwich ever taken from my Jewish NYC boys is a Reuben, you will need:

Corned beef or Pastrami
Imported Swiss cheese
Sauerkraut
Thousand Island Dressing
Heavy Seeded Jewish Rye
Butter

Melt the butter in a pan with the sauerkraut and the meat, cook it up til it's nice and hot, slice the bread and put your cheese and thousand island dressing on it, put the meat and kraut on the bread and brown the sandwich in the pan til the cheese melts and then indulge in the orgasmic splendor that is The Reuben.

That sounds awesome, but I is a veggie. Thanks for the recommendation though!

Belarki's sammitch sounds pretty good... almost too healthy though. Might give 'er a go though.

T-minus two hours to sammitch time people!

grilled cheese and apple? i like to use a thick white bread, some mild white cheese and granny smith apples (and prosciutto). grilled cheese on rye with potato chips (and bacon) in it is also tasty.

grilled cheese and apple sounds delicious

Dave, are you vegetarian or vegan? that is, will you consume cheese or milk or stuff like that?

^ Rice noodles are a good change of pace when you want pasta but want something different. Maybe try a different shape of pasta? Try it with olive oil and onion, garlic, etc, instead of sauce? Lol, I don't know what you normally eat, so I don't know what to suggest.

I'm an ovo-lacto vegetarian, but about 80% of what I cook is vegan.

Fake-out: I was going to do the avocado and chips, but I got lazy and just ate the chips instead :\
Apple and cheese sandwiches are pretty rad; I may give that a go once I can move again. Too much easter foods.

AEP-- try a green pasta: thinly slice some well washed kale leaves into ribbons, and wilt in a pan of hot oil that has been seasoned with a couple of crushed olive cloves and a thai chilli (remove both before adding the greens). Wilt on high heat until they are just barely tender, adjusting the seasoning (salt and pepper) then add some al dente spaghetti right from the pot with a splash of pasta water. Cook down for a minute or so on high, until the dish comes together. Finish with a few good glugs of fruity extra virgin olive oil, grated parmesan (if you eat cheese-- IIRC you're an onmivore, yes?) and some finely chopped flat leaf parsley.

This goes well as a side to a dedicated protein, maybe a chicken cutlet or slice of baked tofu, or on its own with a bit of vegan sausage or thinly sliced smoked tempeh tossed in before the pasta. A few sun dried tomatoes (again, cut into strips) would be good with it too.

^and my rather specific what did you make for dinner thread is more or less dead.

here is a random thought: basketball would be more fun if it lasted only 5 minutes.

So, there's this new girl at work, she's SUPER cute.
Everytime I went over to talk to her, her boss would come over and send me away because I was "being a distraction" when the restaurant was absolutely dead.
BUT I ended up killing her boss and getting in a good hour or so of conversation in with her.

I eat a lot of pasta with tomato sauce, breakfast burritos, and apples with peanut butter.
Wow haha, I never realized how unvaried my diet was.

Rice noodles sound different, and I love different pasta shapes. I feel they taste better when they're shaped different.

Omnivore yes though I am completely lost when it comes to cooking meat. Which leads me to the question of meat substitutes like tofu, I would like to start adding them to my meals but have no idea where to begin. My experiences with them have always been rather bland.

Any ideas on what to buy and then how to prepare it?

Oh and I'll definitely give that green pasta a try later on this week after I get to the grocery store. Thanks :)

Oh god, Someone's got to warn her that you're trouble with your pit bull and motorcycle. She's not going to get anything accomplished, ever.

There's a bit of a knack to cooking tofu well. A good, easy way to start is with baked tofu. I don't want to pollute the random thread any more than necessary, so I'll PM you a recipe/technique.

Cooking meat has a bit of a knack too, but the results pay off with a lot more innate flavour.

Random: why is it that when I have the most to do I have the least motivation, and vice-versa?

Because you have a deadline and the deadline makes you feel pressured and stressed rather than motivated?

I got your PM (though I wouldn't count this as polluting haha) and I will give it the response it deserves once my mind is off of my impending circuits midterm.

At thread: miniature donkeys exist. How awesome is that?
