Salvia scheduling not far off

Salvia Divinorum in the New York Times
On July 9, 2001, the New York Times ran a story about Salvia divinorum,
noting that it as a legal hallucinogenic plant that is currently gaining
in popularity, and listing several Web sites where the plant, leaves,
and extracts can be purchased. The article quoted a DEA spokesperson who
said that while the plant is not currently controlled, the DEA is aware
of it and is currently "collecting information on it." It thus appears
to be only a matter of time before the US government will move to place
Salvia divinorum in Schedule I.

Damn, I was hoping it wouldn't happen so soon, and I did't think that Salvia was that commonly known. Ahhhhhhh this sucks.

Gee, who would have seen that comming? Wait, WE DID, over a YEAR AGO!
Stock up now.. I am just surprised we have not seen some of the shit like 2C-T-7 and DiPT scheduled..
How long does it take? An emergency scheduling would throw the drug in Schedule I, if could later be lowered (but it wouldn't) .. it's an instant thing, but there is usually some time given for people to get straighted out..
On the bright side - it's not something you can really use that often, so a "lifetime supply" shouldn't cost that much ..
I don't think the DEA comment means it's going to be scheduled, I think it's means "we are not doing anything, but this makes it seem like we are" ..

I know I'm not a shadow mod in the slightest but please no sources! If little kids don't know where to find the stuff then they almost certainly haven't done enough research on the stuff to be taking it. If we keep quiet about where to buy things like this we do a little to help keep it legal for longer.
Just my thoughts anyway.

You will never see it on the streets - why? It's simply not a profitable substance... it may be good for self-exploration or that inner soul searching bullshit, but it's not a drug people buy to get high from.. you don't see DMT for the same reason..
I am still thinking about the sources thing.. if a scheduling is not far off, we might as well go ahead - who gives a fuck of some idiots trip out? If the drug is headed for the C-I list ya might as well stock up while you can.. still, there are good reasons to not make sources public... more to come..

I don't see Salvia getting scheduled anytime soon then again the DEA isn't really known for being bright. I think abuse potential for Salvia is incredibly low, if the DEA had their heads out of their asses they would:
a) schedule Robotussin (DXM)
b) schedule San Pedro, might as well since it does the same thing as peyote (mostly)
c) get all forms of ephedrine off the market becaue they hate methamphetamines so much.
Hmmm, goes to show that drug scheduling is more controlled by the FDA/Pharmacy industry. Just follow the money.
 
I am surprised that the American government, with it's chronic fear of methamphetamine, has not taken steps to remove ephedrine from the market.
As for Salvia - I really don't see that as having a very high potential for abuse.
 
I don't understand salvia. It had no impressive impact on me. It made me want to jump out of my skin , but that was all. What is the big deal about this herb?????

um, if you take DXM and ephedrine off the market, you immediately deny millions of sniffly and coughing americans the ability to think western medicine can help their coughs and colds in any way whatsoever.
especially considering that if you schedule ephedrine, you'd have to schedule pseudoephedrine too - they're identical from a methamphetamine manufacturing standpoint.
see, they're important drugs with a legitimate purpose. or, at least, they're highly profitable drugs that probably have markets in the tens of millions of dollars per year.
and i really doubt a significant percentage of the drugs, especially DXM, are being abused.
 
That Washington article is actually a pretty good one. Besides the title, it really didn't bother me all that much.

They aint gonna schedule salvia. They have to draw the line somewhere & I am in no hurry to purchase this herb (disregard that I could'nt afford to even if I wanted to). Yeah, relax because it aint LSD or MDA we are talking about here.
