I'm new here. Hello, and nice to meet you all.

So, over the past month or so I have been using Kratom approximately once daily in doses of about 5-10g. I find it a wonderfully effective substance for many things, and would very much like to continue this habit if it is not terribly bad for me.
I have heard many things about 5-HTP in the past, but have never tried it. I recently acquired some from a grocery store nearby, in the form of 100mg capsules. I have not yet started taking the 5-HTP. I would enjoy attempting to begin a 5-HTP regime on the daily or every other day, but am worried by a lack of good information on the subject of mixing it with Kratom.

I have essentially two questions which I hope someone can shed some light on:
1) Is Kratom safe to take with 5-HTP? I ran some searches but could find no solid information, with the closest hint of an answer coming from here: http://www.bluelight.ru/vb/threads/556280-Kratom-5-htp-Dysphoria

2)If it is safe, would 5-HTP combine well with Kratom? ie, would it in any way potentiate the effects

Thanks everyone.
Also, a thanks to bluelight, which has already helped me in many ways through many experiences.

This was hidden by an over-zealous spam filter...Sorry about that. Bumped back to the top.

i dont have any scientific data supporting this but in my opinion kratom mixes fine with anything. I've mixed it with every other psychoactive that i have done with no bad effects at all. Ecstasy is also one that i have mixed it with, which has more neurological effects then 5-HTP. Others include opiates, benzos, mushrooms, lsd, cocaine, alcohol and of course MJ.

Thanks Pete, I appreciate it.

well chap i feel it is relatively safe as well, potentially as safe as mj overall, even providing a few health benefits(when not completely abused). However, due to the thread I linked to I have some concerns.
Some people say kratom acts on serotonin receptors, while others say otherwise. If it does, some say that means it could cause issues like serotonin syndrome, etc, while others say otherwise. Since there isn't much data or research behind kratom use in the west i was hoping someone might have personal experience either having mixed the two or knowing someone that did.

Do you guys even think it would be a good mix or help the feelings the kratom already creates?

IMO the 5-HTP wouldn't add much, if anything, to the experience. Kratom is quite pleasant enough on its own, and would more than likely overpower any of the relaxing effects of the 5-HTP. Maybe it will increase the sedation a bit, but probably not mush else.

However as far as safety, I think you're fine (unless you are sensitive to seretonergics).

I think you're fine (unless you are sensitive to seretonergics).
I have tried MDMA(as molly, not the mixed-substance rolls). I enjoyed it, but did not find that my experience was more powerful than it should have been based on my research at the time, nor were the aftereffects any worse than I had expected, so I assume I am not terribly sensitive.

Thanks for the input Tambourine, I have been curious about 5-HTP for some time now, and may begin trying 100mg/day.

Does anyone here use it regularly?
I'm interested in the subtle changes it can offer someone in their day-to-day life, as well as any effects or consequences that were major.

Kratom is said to have opiate like properties. I believe it can be addictive. I am not sure on how it would conflict with anti-depressents, but from what I know, kratom more or less helps put you in a relaxed state, and it is a mood enhancer. I do not think the kratom would make him more depressed, but I do not think it will help him become less depressed either.
