Iv'e been on Risperidone for at least 5 years and started experiencing Akathisia and extreme anxiety in December. It went away after I came off of it in the same month but seems as though its coming back slowly. Will I ever recover fully from this? If not I don't see a reason to live anymore.

Hiya how much Risperidone were you on? If it went away, I think that is a good sign . Anxiety is an insidious thing with lots of different symptoms, have you had any therapy for the anxiety itself? The body is an amazing thing and can heal from many things.

Hang in there.

Thanks so much for getting back to me. I was initially on 0.25 mg and the dose rised and fell as the years went on. When I started experiencing strange symptoms and anxiety from these symptoms, he pushed it up to eventually 8mg before I realised this was causing me the akathisia. Iv'e been trying different CBT therapists for a while now and none of them seem to have helped me.

Onwardsupwards - try to get a prescription for Indural (propanol). It's a beta blocker and really helps to take the edge off of anxiety. It saved my life coming off of a ten year run with benzos. Sorry, I have no knowledge for resperidone so I can't speak about that. I do know that my anxiety got worse toward the end of my benzo run when my dosage was increased, and then it hit insane levels when I stopped taking benzos. I was ready to commit suicide to get away from the anxiety and then I found propanol. It's not going to make you feel good like a benzo, but it stops the adrenaline reaction so you don't feel like you're dying. I took it as needed, and eventually after I was off benzos long enough no longer needed it. I hope you start feeling better!
