rip fellas. :(

The English Patient is by Michael Ondaatje, btw (the book). Minghella wrote the script.

RIP Clarke. I think you're pretty much immortal now anyways.

"My God, its full of stars!"

So sad :(
And to think I just rewatched my DVD of Talented Mr Ripley three days ago.

RIP+ 54 is way too fucking young to die.

^^
seriously. He should have had at least another 20 years of making movies.

The Talented Mr. Ripley is one of my favorite flicks.

my first thought exactly: far too young. very tragic.

arthur on the other hand made it to a ripe age of 90. he's led quite a successful life. I have find memories of watching a documentary hosted by him and with an original score by pink floyd's david gilmore (just guitar solo stuff) on the subject of fractals. loved it. taped it. watched it a few times. mr clarke was so enthused on the subject matter. it was hard not to be really suckered in too. i like the bit where he compared to close eyed visuals one gets when pressing lightly on the eyelids to fractal patterns. :D <3

Quotes from actors who worked with Anthony :

“I’m devastated, there is really no way to put it into words. He was a gift to the world.” - Nicole Kidman

"He was incredibly talented and so interested in art and making the world better for art. He was very specific and very loving. He was very sweet to his actors. He would kind of massage everybody while he was talking – very tactile and warm.” - Gwyneth Paltrow

“Anthony possessed a sensitivity and alertness to the actor’s process that very few directors have. He directed most of The English Patient with an ankle in plaster, never losing his gentle humor and precision. He delighted in the contribution of everyone – he was a true collaborator. His films deal with extreme aloneness and the redemptive power of love, even at the moment of death. I will remember him as a man who always wanted to get to the heart of the matter.” - Ralph Fiennes
