The following is a subjective account of SWIM's repeated use of synthetic cannabis and the possible psychological issues associated with chronic use.
Swim's use of drugs started with cannabis, as swim abhorred alcohol (his father is an alcoholic), later using dxm 3-4 times per month (innumerable 2nd plat trips, ~10 3rd and a single trip to above fourth). His use of drugs expanded to LSD (good trip x2), 2c-e (bad trip-existential crises), 2c-c (good trip x2) and occasionally salvia. Recently, seeing many near-collapses of psyche and bad trips from synthetic cannabis (pure jwh and "Bonsai Product" [yet to be properly ID'd]), his use of psychedelics has ceased. Habituation of synthetic drugs has been observed for a 5 month period, yet seeing an end to use of synthetics.
Swim's first use of synthetic cannabis came in the form of pure jwh-018 and jwh-073. Swim first used the drug in gelatin capsules, using high doses to reach near-psychedelia at 5+mg doses. Smoked, Swim found that effects were much more varied and doses were not always consistent with intensity. After the jwh ran dry (over 350 doses in a 5 month period), Swim began using a synthetic called "Bonsai" and saw drastically different effects from his previous uses of jwh.
There has been no relevant information on the product to surface, but it appears to still be sold after the federal ban on many cannabis-like RCs. Smoking Bonsai product with friends, averaging 3 uses per day for a 60 day period, Swim found a dramatic change in experience and intensity compared to other jwh, cp-47, hu, etc. blends. He would come up after a wait period of around 45 seconds, reaching peak in little under 5 minutes and plateauing (a sharp decline from peak) for another hour. A hangover of 3 hours with continuation of psuedo-psychedelic effects was observed, but re-dosing was common for SWIM before a return to baseline.
Psychedelic visuals filled Swim's vision, manifesting in distortions of distance and great changes in bodily awareness. Swim appeared to be non-responsive to even simple questions: he would actively acknowledge the person talking to him, listen intently, and quickly shy away from answering. Sober, Swim would make mention to the uncertainty in the relationship of self and reality, and the lack of continuity in time. Once outgoing and confident, Swim became reclusive, seldom talking and crushed in spirit.
Swim quickly gave into apathy, rarely attending classes, and spending the vast majority of time high on Bonsai. Swim was convinced that Bonsai was a non-cannabinoid research chemical-more close to a psychedelic of the tryptamine family. Swim's friends did not report such strong reactions to the drug, but admitted that Bonsai was different from any other synthetic (cannabis) they had used prior.
Above all other effects, Swim reported a constant sense of Deja-Vu that filled him with panic. Swim would say that he almost knew what was to occur next, but it was blocked from his knowledge until its occurrence. He believed that the continuity of his drug use had left him living one trip to the next in a near-closed cycle. Occasionally the cycle would open and allow him to see into his next trip, in that close-to-sleep theta wave rest. He believed that he had experienced the open-eye visuals of one day in the closed-eye visuals of another. Startlingly, he often uses "visuals" as a metaphor for his daily life, his very existence and vision.
He does not believe in his own experiences and I believe his silence reflects his lack of interest in reacting to a world that he believes is delusional or hallucinated. To all that I am aware in this man's life, I am certain that the acceptance of reality that binds us all to this life has been completely lost to him.
Of course there is no scientific process for identifying precognition or verify any of Swim's claims. His eyes now grow cold, his affect has been flattened, he is definitely a changed man from his repeated experiences. I believe, at his point, his continued use of the drug is out of self-exploration, trying to piece together his shattered picture of reality.
The questions posed by this thread are thus: Has any BL member experienced similar effects of precognitive capacity on any drug, even if it was significantly milder? Is there any remedy for Swim's lack of trust in fundamental reality?
