Reincarnation

I was wondering if anyone has any evidence or somewhat solidified theories as to wether reincarnation exists or not. (and I'm kind of more into the idea of reincarnating into another sentient being rather than, say a plant) I really like the idea of it. It seems better to me than the belief that there is some heavenly state of being we can go off into only 'in part' or as a different kind of being than that of a human/sentient.

There is one supernatural storie I've heard that gives me hope it could be real:
I've heard of shamanistic rituals in which ancestral spirits (that probably still wander the Earth) can inhabit people at times if they open themselves up to such things. This seems to come from a fairly credible whitness.

This doesn't really, say anything, I know, but it's all I have, really. Anyone else?

Do you believe in reincarnation because is eases your fears about death and the afterlife?

I prefer the idea of reincarnation that goes something like:' every moment we are reincarnated anew'

I guess it has to do with fear of the unknown a little bit, but mostly I just like the idea of continuing on. Life is short, there is so much to learn. If we could somehow stay on a similar path, reguardless of weather we remember it, that would be nice. Like, if I were born to a different life, and came across people I knew in other lives, or was reminded of things I knew and lessons I'd learned.

Malakaix, Read the web link, enjoyed it greatly. I'll have to check that book out eventually. It was funny how he claimed that the evidence for such things were clearly attested to, yet didn't provide any further clarity to such statements. (like you said, lack of tangabel evidence :p) but that was just a short preview anyway. I'd like to read the full book some day. And that picture at the top got me, cause I've atchieved a similar image through normal meditation and prayer. (eye vortex ;p)

I guess nobody really knows if its real or not but i know a few people that have had someone hypnotise them and supposedly take them back to there past lives and they can describe a couple of the lives they went to in great detail and they say there was people that are close to them like spouses, good freinds, ect. that were also in there past lives and they didnt look the same but they could just sense that it was there soul. that would be suggesting that souls travel together through the reincarnations. the thing is you never know if that was just some crazy state of mind or if they were actualy remembering real past lives.

Its pretty interesting my step mom did it and said my dad was there and he was black(hese white in this life) and he was a fisherman for a living.

Theres also the the idea that theres about 6 billion people in the world total and theres only so many (i think its like 30 billion) different dna combinations possible so chances are your dna has been here before and after you die it will come back again. Thats probably not how it works but its just an idea.

Then theres also dmt and whatnot where you go to what seems like past lives but you never know exactly what it is

Cool concept, repetitive DNA. So what if you are an identical twin? Are you possibly sharing the same soul split in twain? Or, would you maybe share it, and at the same time posess it in it's entirety, like it exists completly whole in two parts of time/space, yet to our conception appearing in double for a nearly equal time frame? ;)

I was thinking that theory would be excluding the idea of souls like a purely scientific explanation for it. but shit i didnt think about identical twins lol ya anythings possible man.

This is just slightly off subject, but as I mentioned earlier, I've meditated and prayed to find truth within religion at times. I've done some basic qi gong and other forms of meditation.

At a certain time in my life I was meditating, I had hardly done anything to alter my brain that, some might construe as unnatural. Anyway, in meditation I seemed to have certain spiritual, possibly archetypical, closed eye immages. Some are as follows; what appeared to be a tunnel of eyes, that had some blurb that was possibly a light at the end of it, at other times I remember seeing a dragon head, I saw a moving image that seemed like a blob that traveled in a way comparable to the fake lava in a lava lamp from one side of my closed eye view to another, on a different occasion I saw a pyramid from the view of it's top appearing as the outline of an x. This reminded me of another time i was staring at the static on a television screen and saw an x moving around the screen. (at this time the x resembled a chromosome, to me) All of these immages came to me first at times when I was sober and had been mostly for quite some time(to my knowledge :p) ( I stress that the visuals came years apart from any other hobbies, and I assure u the hobbing had been minimal befor this) ;). So I'd like to ask if anyone might have seen these immages too. Could they be part of some kind of archetypeical conciousness? These, and some other immages that my mind has created(?) appear strikingly similar to some art immages I see on the net.

So I want to ask, has anyone achieved similar images as I have described while meditating or doing anything else that might cause one to have such visions? The most particular vision that I come across in art on the net is the "eye vortex" or "eye tunnel". (a large vortex of eyes viewed from above with something beyond the tunnel)

Something comparable to this: http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&...1l19l0l7l7l0l511l2113l3-2.2.1l5l0&mvs=0#i=133

Yet more similar to the pic on the link posted previously on this thread

I do not see how someone could prove that reincarnation exists %100. I mean, if you die.. and reincarnation were real.. then you wouldn't be coming back into the next life as the same person you are now. I mean I've heard of various reports of some young kid who knew a extensive amount of information about the 1950s or so and he was only .. like 10 years old. Kinda odd how just a little kid that was born in this generation would know so much about a long time ago.

Maybe that is not a direct source about the discussion but its something to think about eh?

Right on target actually. I'm into proof. Of coarse, anything speculative would be welcome, as after all, that's mostly what we have to go on anyway. As you say, if any memories continue they are rare, or possibly, deeply locked away.

Actually, what I said earlier about archetypal designe is another possible explanation to this kind of evidence. Maybe the two tie in to one another, as the link Malakix provided suggests.

I believe in eternal life, reincarnation being part of that concept... (The Kybalion)

peace....

As I've mentioned before, in a time of my life that I had done very little to augment my psyche, if u catch my drift, I had begun meditating. I had the privilege of meeting a man who I called Si Fu (I think that's how u spell it, and it supposedly means "teacher") he taught qi gong. Practicing qi gong and trying other meditations I found online helped me learn that spiritual energy is real and exists in all things around us. As I meditated, I felt tingling in my hands, learned to gaze into the air and see the energy, induced a trance-like state, and even brought about closed eye visuals. (all of this without the influence of foreign chemicals)

I'm fairly sure that, had I not had these experiences I would be fully an atheist by now. Instead I am still searching for answers.

Here is a link to a guy meditating through qi gong. Some might find this practice enlightening as I have. :) it's basically a revitalization and emerging of the previously secretive religions practices of people from Tibet.

All religions and spirituality stem from The Kybalion.

Peace....

please no.

I do not ever want to see this earth again once Im gone. No. No. No.

Unless all the people are evolved into peaceloving happy people, the sooner I am gone, the longer I will have on the other side. I don't even care if there is another side. JUST so LONG as I never have to live on this earth again.

Its ridiculous. Its painful. We make up stories to explain it but we dont know, for sure, do we?

no no no do not make me come back, let me go explore the universe.

I strongly believe in reincarnation. However, if I had the beginning of an explanation, I would be rich by now. I'm just sure that as soon as we die we're born again. For the better or for the worse.

I heard a quote reciently, "No one in the world ever gets what they want and that is beautiful. Everyone dies frustrated and sad and that is beautiful."

To me this sais that our hunger, our longing, even our suffering is beautiful. It makes me think that there is purpose to life, and that we are driven to attain something. Also, if beauty is found in such sad things, then the world is not such a sad place after all. Suffering, pain, misery, are all finent, and their value to us is motivation to find enlightenment. This is just my view though. The quote cheered me up, oddly, so I've shared it here.

The sad truth is that society has progressed so far into believing the ideology of "the self" that anyone trying to achieve enlightenment must struggle against immeasurable odds to achieve such a goal, and in the process most people end up reverting back to that dominant ideology....
