First, let me say that I dont think I am breaking any rules with this thread,if so mods plz take it down and send a PM of what rule(s) I broke. However, keep in mind that this threads purpose is to give those seeking help in their addictions additional places to look into when seeking rehab, reviewed by their fellow peers at BlueLight...If giving them as many places to consider as possible isnt harm reduction, idk what is...
Please Include the Following Information About the Rehab You Went To:

1. Name of rehab center and location, city and state plz

2. Duration and inpatient or Outpatient?

3. Cost at the time of your visit and did they work with you on the cost?

4. Type of rehab idealology and structure. Is it State funded,Independent,Christian, etc.

5. Activities and kinds of learning material. Did you get recreation time,do any work on relapse prevention,AA/NA, etc.

6. Overall review of your experience there.

7. Contact info if possible. Email, mailing Address, phone number.

If anyone needs clarification on any of these questions feel free to ask. I know there are a lot of rehab centers out there, probably one close to those who are seeking to go. Sometimes though addicts need to go somewhere completly different than their norm and I hope this thread allows them to find different options ^.^

Please Include the Following Information About the Rehab You Went To:

1. Name of rehab center and location, city and state plz.

Penfield Christian Home Union Point,Ga and Freedom Counseling Trion,Ga

2. Duration and inpatient or Outpatient?

Six week inpatient and 6 month mixed inpatient/outpatient

3. Cost at the time of your visit and did they work with you on the cost?

$2,000 in 2007 and $250(?) a wk.(2007) Both places would work with you on the cost at the time

4. Type of rehab idealology and structure. Is it State funded,Independent,Christian, etc.

Christian largely funded by the Southern Babtist Association (plus private donations),and Christian funded by residents rent and private donation(reason I mention funding is bc sometimes it affects what a place can talk about in their material if funded by the state)

5. Activities and kinds of learning material. Did you get recreation time,do any work on relapse prevention,AA/NA, etc.

PCH-Recreation time, which included: Weights, basketball, softball, ping pong, volleyball, and horseshoes. TV,board games, and card games were only allowed at certain times, everyone was required to participate in some kind of physical activity. Trips to Churches off the campus of Penfield. NA/AA, Bible study, Relapse Prevention Therapy, Guest speakers, videos, and a few other classes that related back to Christianity.
Freedom Counseling- Work, hiking, basketball, softball, picnics, camping trips and other overnight trips,NA/AA, Relapse prevention, Dealing with Grief,Bible study,Videos, guest speakers, Church...A lot of the activities here varies on if you have your own vehicle, are in good standing, and know places to go in the area.

6. Overall review of your experience there.

PCH- This place sits on 33.5 acres of land and it is about 7 miles either way to civilization. This however allowed for me to truly be away from distractions and focus on getting sober. They allowed your family to come visit everyother wkend and after your second wk you was allowed 2 leave with them 2 visit in the surround town for a couple hrs,so this helped greatly.
Wasn't to fond of the fact that it was Christian to start out with but it ended up being what made sense for me.It was crazy, the entire place just had a peaceful aura to it,almost like you could feel God. They had good food (and if someone that owns a resturant is there during ur stay the food will b even better). They also have a very caring and supportive staff. At first the time there went by slowly, but after that first week, the other five flew. It is an all male program,so it did suck not getting to see hardly any females for six wks...
Freedom Counseling- This was a 6 month to a year halfway house type program. They allowed you to work but couldnt start work any earlier than six am or work later than six pm. You were allowed to have a vehicle but had 2 ask permission and have an accountability partner when you went somewhere. There was time during the wk where we were allowed to go to the local recreation center, state park, or leave and do other activities if approved. You could also go to the store or go out 2 eat after work or meetings,if time permitted. They were very strict on the idea of accountability but you get used to it. I also really enjoyed getting to go to the Smokey Mountains for a few days and a revivival/concert called the Call(was on 7-7-07).Great supportive staff and the man that is over it seems to have a very close connection with God.

7. Contact info if possible.

Freedom Counseloing-N/A I dont have their number and not sure if they have a site or anything...however, I am certain that their number could be obtained from Penfield

They have also opened up a couple different campuses since I was there.
