Hello - between my friends and I we have been to quite a few rehabs for short acting opiate dependence i.e oxycodone, vicodin ...) Almost every opiate rehab starts with the "Detox" phase (almost always Suboxone based). Most rehabs will want to get you through the detox phase as quickly as possible and most (not all) will have the goal of making it "Bearable" - not completely "comfortable". I think they want you to experience some pain. Our combined experience tells us most rehabs will have you in the detox phase for 3-5 days - occasionally 7 days then you move into the "treatment" focused stage (again - this is for short acting opiates - not benzos or long acting opiates which detox can be much longer). However, there seems to be a discrepancy between this 3-5 day period and the research we've done on recommended self directed or outpatient detox tapers which seem to be more in the 7 - 10-14 day range.

Here is our question - Can anyone account for this difference? and/or Does anyone know what a "typical" suboxone dosage schedule is like for the 3-5 day rehab based detox? We know this can vary greatly depending on many factors - so we are looking for basically "middle of the road" type scenario.

Rehabs are smart. They know that the first week is the most dangerous as far as you leaving the center against medical advice. So they keep you as doped up and comfy as possible until they can sink there teeth into you and your family emotionally and of financially.
