Regarding the so called "refugees" invading Australia

What's your point? Do you want starving refugees? Or refugees that have found a dependable source of food?

Do you want lazy refugees? Or refugees that work hard?

Or does this boil down to skin color?

Yeah he might be racist, who knows. He does have a point though, some people deserve to be at the front of the line, these people dont deserve people to lose their place because people with money can afford to buy their way in.

Well ask questions, instead of everyone going straight to default (thats racist) attempt to understand why he(she? RN, im sexist) thinks this way.

He, thanks.

Yeah, the cliche leftists have trouble with the whole "Attack the idea not the person" bit same as the whole "I disagree with what you say defend to the death your right to say it"

The right wing is fucked up and somewhat psychopathic but these leftists are just fucking crazy, it is with religious like zeal they throw rationality and logic aside with ease to defend their
precious ideals, even when close examination shows them to profoundly fucked up at the core.

It is just pathetic

Well I have been to Bogota and I went to just the moderately poor neighbourhoods and it was extremely distressing the shit I saw. Let me tell you, none of them were wearing designer clothes, real or knock offs

These pricks don't even come close, not even the same planet.

And yes Escher, everyone knowns you can buy knock off jeans in Khao san road so please, spare me the enlightenment.

I'm not talking about knock-off jeans. I'm talking the real deal.

Last thrift store I was in, I saw a cashmere and silk sweater, $8. That's in the US. It must have been a lot of money when new, now it's worth barely anything. If it doesn't sell, it'll be shipped to Africa or ground up for padding and recycled.

Yep, people feel they need to side with an ideology and then refuse to acknowledge any other point of view.

I'm more impressed that for the first time someone has accused me of leftish leanings (whatever that is). I would have thought wanting to allow the more wealthy and less decrepit to come into the country would make me more of a conservative.

It is laughable for people to complain that "people are jumping the queue" like there is some sort of ordered processing procedure that creates fairness once they land. To have to then be imprisoned for several years while they assess your suitability is ridiculous. It takes only 5 minutes to be allowed into the country on holiday, surely it should take less than a week to run a back ground check if you want to stay long term. If it takes longer than this why not integrate them into the country and let them work, generate taxable income and only deport them once you eventually deem them unsuitable? That way there is no queue and you can allow just as many poor refugees as working ones. It would be cost effective too.

Since when do you have to be poor and wearing rags in order to be a refugee? Where are either of those qualifiers mentioned in the Refugee Conventions? People of all classes sometimes have to flee for their lives, indeed more often than not in times of civil conflict it is the educated class that is targeted first. You don't have to be poor to be persecuted, only the most witless of internet trolls would ever try and claim otherwise.

If the OP thinks clothing is a determiner of refugee status then he/she is a dribbling moron and I have no interest in understanding the sort of dark, hateful thought processes that brought them to this point.

In this thread: A nation descended from criminals that no other country on earth wanted now has an issue with refugees.

Sad, isn't it? Kon Karapagionidis who runs the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre has pointed out, much to his great disappointment, that one of the toughest demographics to crack are the middle-aged, male, second/third generation Greek/Italian generation, who's families ironically more often than not came to Australia as refugees themselves. A nation of hypocrites.

Times and circumstances change. Also the Greeks and Italians have proved to be excellent citizens, they integrated well because they came from the same religious and cultural background.
Immigrants are not equal. Not by a long shot and dammed if I will stand in a silence while we become the developing worlds garbage bin. . Go have a look at Briton, from world power to basket case in a century.

I asked you a few questions middleway. Take a second away from keyboard slamming your hate to answer them please.

My former in laws are Italian and Maltese migrants and I can assure you they were exposed to the same ignorant bigotry as you are directing at Muslims. Many of them spent time in military internment camps for no other reason than they spoke and understood Italian. Who is to say in 50 yrs time your children won't be best friends with the local muslim from their favourite Persian restaurant down the road?

For someone who has such a strong grasp of history you sure do like to pick and choose your facts.

Hate mongers like you at the time said the same thing about the Greeks. And the Italians. And the Vietnamese. If we'd listened to the likes of you then we wouldn't have the vibrant contribution they've provided to society. You're just repeating the same tired old xenophobic mantra that people like you have repeated since time immemorial. You're a little man with a myopic and hateful world view that is beyond contempt.

Oh come on, you can give me a little bit of contempt can't you?

As usual, all I see is bitching and sniping and stamping of feet.

Yet again the core issue keeps getting dodged
