I just finished the game. I liked it and thought it was a nice western themed GTA style game. The story was decent and the gameplay is pretty fast paced. There are alot of guns in the game which is cool and ever a bullet time type of thing that comes in handy. If anyone had played Red Dead Revolver this game used it's quick draw duel mechanic which is done well but, perhaps a little too easily (I easily beat everyone I fought).
My only gripe is there are a few too many monotonous missions. I really didn't enjoy herding cattle the first time I was forced to do so and it was no better the fourth time either. Everything from breaking wild horses to protecting livestock or grain from wild animals happens way too often for my liking. By the end of the game it got really irritating.
Overall I liked the game and it's cast of characters. If you like GTA then you will surely like this game. The scenery is great to look at and the world is very interesting in general. I still like GTA4 more than this game because of the cars and the more populated areas but this is still the best western themed game I've played.
Lastly the ending is a little strange to figure out. If you haven't made it far and would like to figure it out for yourself then don't click

After John Marston dies you take control of his son Jack. He buries his mother and then...? Well it would seem like there's nothing left to do. In actuality you must ride to Blackwater and meet a stranger signified by the question mark at the entrance to town. This person will send you on a quest to kill your father's killer. After the duel with this man the credits finally roll and at that point I was glad to see em because IMO I never want to herd another herd of fucking cattle in a game again
