Hey guys, just thought I'd share this little tidbit of the psychedelic experience with you. My fish says it was during the peak of a relatively low dose trip (1 blotter).

There's two MP3's which were recorded from my couch...Just lying there, thinking, reflecting, relaxing.

Life1.mp3
Life2.mp3

You can feel free to chastise me for feeding my Beta fish 'Jackson Pollock' LSD. I had read clinical studies on the effects before-hand and knew it was medically harmless. The consciousness of fish is debatable to say the least. He had only transient moments of visible stress. At which point he would swim rapidly around the tank, or do a barrel roll (star fox anyone?). Mainly he stayed in the shallow end of the tank, chilling with his bamboo feeling the vibrations of Gregorian chant and chill guitar music on his tank. Which seems to calm him...Definitely wasn't digging Mozart or metal. Today, he's back to eating and seems to be close to baseline. A little more relaxed than usual. Didn't flit agitatedly and change color drastically when the lights came on. But to all you animal rights people, I apologize, it was probably a little cruel. But, maybe now my fish has a little touch of god in him, whether he's cogniscent of that gift or not.

It's quite cool in the beginning but it gets really corny. There are lots of logical inconsistencies, I hope you realize this? It's a good thing that you're exploring these thoughts but take them with a spoonful of salt!

It picks up though! Now it's better again :)

If you actually drugged an animal then that is not cool, animals have no choice to partake and do not understand the effects nor can they understand why they are feeling altered. No Bueno.

And I don't care how much your cat or dog likes to get high.

A fish isn't a cat or a dog though. I catch them with hooks and stab them and eat them and skin them and bleed them and all sorts of fucked up stuff without a second thought when I'm out fishing. I think a fish is more ethical than say, a mouse.

In terms of ethics, I think this was okay. You obviously care for Jackson Pollock a great deal otherwise you wouldn't have wanted to have an experience like this with him.

My friend has a very obese goldfish named Jitterbug and I remember one day while rolling at his place on a very large amount of MDMA we were playing music and watching Jitterbug for hours. It was memorizing. When he would open up his mouth it looked like he was rapping so we'd start filling in what we think he would be saying. Fish are so incredible!

Its ridiculous to assert that one unethical activity is "more ethical" than another unethical activity. If you know an action is wrong, then don't do it-- how it compares ethically to other actions shouldn't even enter the equation.. :\

Also: respectfully killing an animal for food is one thing, drugging it without purpose is completely different.

listened to most of the first session of your ramblings
gonna download the second one for when I feel like listening to what a human has to say
thanks for sharing your psychedelic thoughts! :)

@Mjäll: Thanks for taking a look. I agree it's not logically concise, it wasn't really a speech or anything, just a basic vocal rendering of the thoughts that were entering my mind. Recording yourself can be a little intimidating, especially when peaking on a hallucinogen. And any anxieties seem to cause the mind to recoil, drop the train of thought, and try to gather it back up again. I don't continue to agree with everything that comes from my mouth, or thoughts verbatim. In fact, I try to be the shepherd of my thoughts, and guide them in the right direction. This recording isn't brilliant, it's nothing new, it's simply an audio recording of some guy on acid. Just seemed like we were short that kind of material =).

@The Fish Lovers: I'll have you know, Jackson is perfectly fine. His coloration is darker than usual showing signs of decreased stress. During the trip, though his fins would display, and his color would deepen it was transient. This amount of displayed stress was less than days where I move him, or fully clean his tank. I love jackson as much as a man can love a $5 fish, and wanted to possibly experience something special alongside him. I've had dogs and cats, other, more conscious beings and wouldn't dream of dosing them.

Thanks for the replies guys, and god bless.
