You can get some crazy mental setups with what you read while high. I can get some books running like a movie in my head if they use enough details to describe what's going on. I need to find a good book so I can do this again. I haven't read a book in about 8 months. Any suggestions?

i love reading while high, in fact, you just gave me the desire to do that right now!. i think im going to read Desert Solitaire.

there are two advantages of reading high for me... one is that i make all kinds of crazy associations and i just let my mind wander sometimes thinking about the meaning of different things.. the other is that imagination is enhanced so much that i really get into the stories and feel a deeper impact.

sometimes i read academic books high if they are boring sober. i dont get as much out of it memory wise but i usually develop a more broad based big picture understanding than i would otherwise.. which is good for pre-reading before class where i can fill in the holes.

I have read books for while high countless hours. A book I HIGHLY recommend you read while high is Eckhart Tolle's "The Power of Now." I've had some of the trippiest experiences reading that book while high

all the time.

It's a hit and miss tho if i'm really bent as my mind tends to wander and I might be required to reread a page several times as the information just disappears.

Also if the book is boring i'll fall asleep.

Good writers books to read bent: Tolkein, Iain (M.) Banks, A. A Attanasio, Irvine Welsh (Filth - is a must-read)...

i would really love to read the lord of the rings, but since i have already seen the movie i would probably get bored..

is this a fiction book?

a good read i recommend is tell no one

It's definitely awesome. I read a bunch of books over a few month period last year. It was basically all I did while high (I was almost always high), and it turned out to be an unexpectedly great change from just watching TV or playing games. I'll second the Tolkien recommendation earlier. If you've only seen the movies, you're totally missing out on his amazing writing.

If you're into comedy, the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy books by Douglas Adams are the funniest I have ever read. Apparently he experimented with mushrooms at some point, which might have contributed to his crazy sense of humor.

The Godfather is a fantastic crime book which, once again, spawned a series of movies. Even if you found the movies boring, this one is a page-turner that I've probably read at least five times.

If you're into more lighthearted stuff, the Discworld novels by Terry Pratchett are definitely a close second to Douglas Adams' work in terms of sheer hilarity.

I don't like to get too high when I read though, since it tends to cause memory lapses or zoneouts while I'm trying to read. I'll second the bit where someone said that sometimes they have to re-read a page just to understand what it says.

A weird thing that happened to me after a while of heavy reading while baked was that as soon as I smoked some weed I would get all these crazy, tripped-out flashes in my mind about the stuff I had read earlier. Sometimes it felt like my inner monologue was being transformed into that of the character (not like going crazy, in a pleasurable way) and when I did go to read I found myself that much more immersed in the story. Anyway, good times.

Man i find it hard to read when im high, my visions gos a little funny. I always find i have to read shit twice to make sure it was really there lol. I get that with mostthings, seeing things, hearing stuff, im never sure if it was actually there or if i imagined it bcoz thats usually all i do when im baked.

A real good book to read while high is Trainspotting, it's completely hilarious. Naked Lunch is pretty good too. Come to think of it, really any book is good to read if you just get into it.

I used to love reading when I smoked pot.

I once read HST's Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas first sober and it was funny and then on seperate drugs. I also used to enjoy reading poetry while high and books by Kerouac.

I can't read anything that's complicated as Tolkein when I'm stoned. I like to read the simple stuff.

I'm pretty ripped right now on what i think might be Mango bud.

i LOVE doing this, though i get more out of it if i read something i've read before and am familiar with.. recently started re-reading harry potter.. lol, it's awesome.

all you guys seem to really enjoy it! i am reading a book called the terror right now. i was on hydrocodone last night and started to read and it was pretty awesome.

It's really easy for me to get into good fiction/science fiction. Other than that, anything I guess.

well try LOTR or hmmm, look at deadfall, its not science fiction but its a GREAT fiction book. i was sucked in it forever
