Ravaged by Methamphetamine

Yuck man... that was foul. But u gotta question how genuine that second picture was.. i don't believe meth alone warranted the change.

but still...that was interesting... thanks for posting the article my nigga-kitty

yeah, sure, what's not to believe? 4 years of daily speed use will sure do something like that... Thank God that I don't like to go on long binges with anything :)

Well... i dunno...

Firstly there's loads of subtle differences. In the first picture she is wearing make-up and has had her hair done perfectly. The second picture looks like they've just pulled her out from jail (which they probably have)

If you took a picture of urself all tarted up, then another after just waking up in the morning after 1 hours sleep wouldn't you look like 2 different people?

But granted, for an appearance to change that much a considerable amount of Meth _must_ have done it. I see too many loopy people who look 20 years older than they are because of drugs.

Addiction + bad sleep = very bad for your face.

Maybe the lady on the propaganda wasn't a methamphetamine addict at all, maybe she was a heroin addict.
I know heroin tends to consistantly be a more physically deteriorating drug, so perhaps a typical-ish heroin addicts' before and after photos, (a particularly shocking metamorphasis of course), was used in those fliers etc. in an attempt to curb rampant, festering methamphetamine manufacture and use in the area.
There is nothing to suggest that an anti-drug group putting out fliers and "look what that damned old devil crank does to ya" pictures of what several years of meth use can look like will be completely honest in all their "publications" and not make slight content alterations to "potenate" the effect of the flier, pamphlet, commercial, internet-fucking-popup or whatever. After all, whats a little white lie when you're trying to bring down the fastest growing, soul rottin'ist, joy rapin'ist, home destroyingist, dope scourge of todays generation? Right. Fuck it.
So basically, why not take some wrecked heroin addict and do a before and after, slap it on an anti-meth flier and Viola! Instant added shock value and nobody will ever know, (and even if we do is it really going to make a difference? fuck no.).
This of course is just an opinion, a poorly planned and quickly spouted theory posted with intent of swaying your judgment using ideas based on no hard evidence, (yet not unlike seventy five percent of the other bull shit we are fed in this blindingly subjective, suffocatingly manipulative world/life/reality). And yet, a possibility. But if its not true then it doesn't make a fuck if its a possibility or not. Right? Or does it even make a fuck if it is right?
Nah... all that matters is that people see the half-dead, (even if only on the inside), after photo of the four year addict that looks nothing akin to the fairly attractive before picture and think: "Fuck, that bitch looks like shit. What's that, four years of meth use? Damn! I'll be sure to only do a "little" of that! Don't wanna get addicted or anything." and then go home and enjoy the pack of cancer stix they started before work while polishing off a bottle of some cheap alcoholic coping device.
We're fucked people, all around, basically is what I'm tryin to get at. Like in my neck of the woods its 3:38 am and I will be punshed for my lack of concern for my need of sleep. Oh yes. I will pay. And so will you.

Meth or crack can both produce those effects. Don't see too much meth where I live (at least I don't) but there are a lot of crackheads walking around looking dead with rotten teeth. Heroin is not as destructive to your body. Often the deterioration is also due to malnutrition and free radical damage over prolonged periods. Even if the pic is fake (which I doubt) those results can certainly be duplicated. Back in the 70's there were a lot of speeders looking like that.

yea to some degree it is true but plus u see a lot of the meth/crack being in poor areas of the town. i bet if you looked at me u wouldnt know ive been abusing and using such drugs like speed for so long. you are right apart of that is malnutrition. when i take meth or pills i also eat while coming down and sleep, unlike a lot of speeders i know. its very important to take care of your body and be responsible about the drug if u going to do it.

The damage is definitely due to a stimulant -- there is no question about THAT. I agree that it could have just as easily been crack or even coke, and I absolutely believe that methamphetamine was the culprit. Heroin will not do that to your teeth, heroin will not age you two decades in 4 years....

I actually agree with this one bit of 'propaganda'. I know a variety of addicts to a variety of drugs. Addiction is not pretty, and meth addiction is one of the ugliest. Heroin addiction is the saddest but meth is the scariest as far as I'm concerned.

Obviously Miss Penny Wood was not a weekend meth user. She clearly had to be doing LARGE amounts every day, and I'd bet via smoking or injection, which tend to be the most destructive and/or addictive routes. While some of you might consider the photos being used inappropriately (as more moderate meth users won't end up in nearly as bad of a state), I think the truth is rarely inappropriate. And if the photos DO help people use more sparsely, I am all for it.

I'd have to say that drinking and not sleeping can do that. Or the easiest answer is: it's just makeup.

Mom says hi to everyone btw. And she wants to know if someone can float her 20 bucks till friday.

Negro-kitty, I'm glad you posted this. It's things like this that keep me paranoid about drug use, and thus out of trouble (ie. dependance, constant use, etc.). I'm sure it's the same for many. Feel free to post these types of stories whenever you see them.

I agree, she was most likely used a lot and often. The amphetamine induced malnutrition probably helped wreak havoc on her face. Lack of make-up does make a difference, but it's clear the haggard and forlorn look comes from the meth dependance.

Again, I enjoy your posts kitty - keep them up.

If only we had that picture of that guy who injected heroin into his penis and it turned green.
