Quitting heroin; did I reset my withdrawals?

Okay, so here's the deal...I moved to a new city and ran into the wrong crowd and got reintroduced to heroin after 4 or so years. Started out snorting it for the first 2 weeks daily, and then iv'd for a month after that. So I went on a month and a half binge before I got to the point where I was selling off my possessions and then I realized I had to get the hell out of the city for awhile. As of yesterday I was 8 days clean off heroin, horrible fucking week by the way, but yesterday I stumbled across a quarter of an 8 mg suboxone, yes a lot of my withdrawals had past, but I still had a lot of lingering anxiety and insomnia. So my question is though, since I was on day 8 no heroin, will have taking that piece of sub reset these withdrawals back in any way, or should I be in the clear? Thanks in advance for any advice

Welcome to BL:)

IMO there is a chance you set yourself back a little, but given it was a quarter and the long half life and resultant come down i think you may be a uncomfortable but hopefully its nothing like what you went through. I hope this is the case for you

hi

don't beat yourself up on the fact that you had another dabble after 4 years or so. what is done is done. sometimes we need to take a step or two backwards to be able to leap forward. turn the negatives in to positives if you can.

you staying in LA? you got other friends to hang with? supportive types

People have successfully used minimal doses of suboxone to taper and get down to very little withdrawals when jumping off, so I wouldn't worry since you just had a bit once. I would try not to take any more. But even if, say, 2 days after the first one you took a little bit more because you were really suffering, you'll probably be fine. Rapid suboxone taper from full opiates is a valid tactic but you have to be very careful and honest with yourself.
