DISCLAIMER #1: Those are intended to be three completely separate categories. It'll make sense when I explain, but my question is about (dramatically) over-eating, NOT weight.
DISCLAIMER #2: Mods, I had no idea where to put this, so please move to wherever you feel appropriate
You can actually get high on food in a similar way to drugs. It's been proven that eating over 5000 calories a day gets you high on adrenaline and dopamine, similar to drugs (but weaker).
Early on when I was in High School (ages 11-14) I had a very unique Eating Disorder diagnosis: I had Anorexia: Restrictive Type and Compulsive Eating Disorder...BOTH. This was partly due to depression. When my depression wasn't "better" for periods of time I'd eat all day every day...and I WOULD get a giddy sort of high and feel a little euphoric. When my depression was severe again, everything tasted...dead...and I had no appetite and (along with having some pre-anorexia in me somewhere) I'd end up losing like 45lbs in 3 months.
Later I developed Bulimia and noticed that as well as getting a high off a binge, that high would be significantly heightened by the purge (self-induced vomiting). It almost stops being about food and weight because you get this OVERWHELMING feeling of relief when you purge (almost like FINALLY peeing when you've been desperate to go for hours.
Anyway (I always go off on tangents..)...
If you regularly consume 5000+ calories in a day - do you find you feel good or some sort of high or anti-depressant effect (even if only brief and you later feel guilty/bad)?
