Hey all.. I have Generalized Anxiety Disorder, and I am not sure if the indica strains are more anxiety causing, or if the sativa ones are. But if I am correct, I believe a Sativa strain would probably be better for me, do you guys know of ANY ANTI -anxiety strains out there? I used to be able to handle marijuana very easily, and it never bothered me one bit, it just caused euphoria, and sometimes some paranoia.

But I am looking for the more relaxing type? I heard Sativa strains are better and they do not cause the racing heart pounding panic attacks, but then I heard from another person that indica is the way to go. I know that most strains now are hybrids and are indica + sativa.. But I know you can still get some pure indica strains, or some pure sativa strains. I am from Western Canada, right next to British Columbia, so I have never really ran into shitty quality dope, its always been pretty high quality shit. There is a strain out there called "Blue Heaven" and its 75% Sativa, and 25% Indica, and this is what it says about the strain on:

Blue Heaven

Type: Mostly Sativa
Flowering: 50-60 days

A very productive plant of high value as a medicinal herb.
Bred for it's euphoric anti-anxiety high, this mostly Sativa (approximately 75% Sativa, 25% Indica) produces a comfortable and enjoyable, yet powerful experience.
The plants are tall with long branches making this beauty a great plant for "screen of green" gardens.

If anyone can relate, please reply, and post what you think is better for anxiety, more of an indica? or more of a sativa? I've had some strains here that I've had the absolute WORST panic attacks in my life, I thought my heart was going to jump out of my chest, and I couldn't sit still, I thought I was going to die for sure, even trying not to think about it. But then I've also had really good strains that I liked, that are nice and mellow. :\

Please reply people, and I am REALLY sorry about the long post.

Thanks :)

i know nothing about the medical benefits of any strain of MJ. however, when i've smoked what my dealer called sativa, it was not very relaxing. it was the opposite. i think indica dominant strains may be better for calming you down.

buttttt, who the fuck knows really? my dealer is an idiot so he probably had no idea what sativa was anyway.

I know for me I never get panic attacks on sativa strains .
Sativa strains for me are just pure euphoria and less paranoia and anxiety .

I hate indicas . Whenever I smoke them my right arm goes numb , I get paranoid and mega anxiety . Then after I just feel tired and lazy unlike satvia . ... The only good thing I like about indica is it seems to give better munchies .

But for me sativa All the way !

Personal preference imo, try a heavy sativa, then a heavy indica, then a mix and just see which one you prefer

You want some type of indica dominant strain for sure imo. Sativas will get you thinking too much. I've struggled with anxiety in the past. White Rhino is one strain of dope that has never at one time or another really made me a least a little anxious. White Rhino has had quite the opposite effect on me regarding anxiety. Very relaxing, mellow high White Rhino has.

I've got anxiety... as of late it has begun to occur when I smoke, especially if I smoke a heavy indica. I prefer sativas, they are a lighter high and dont seem to trigger my anxiety like indicas do.

i think that indica would be a better strain because it seems to relax you more and doesnt give you that mind high that causes you to over think stuff like sativa does.

I have a single plant of the Indica type growing right now! You can tell b/c it has broad, short leaflets instead of narrow long ones! This type of cannabis produces a high they call "Couch Lock"- ie a sleepy, drowsy body type buzz. It would probably be what you're looking for if you have anxiety issues. Bubbalicious is an Indica dominant strain. I've never finished it but it came from a feminized seed!! Wish me luck.

I think you are right. :)

I'm pretty sure lighter Sativa dominant strains are better for Anxiety. Most strains that go around here, since I am next to BC, Canada.. i'm in Alberta, and majority of strains here that you buy off street dealers are indica dominant. I can tell because of the buds being very dense, hard and smelly. The heavy indica strains WILL make your drowsy and relaxed when you are "coming down", but when you first smoke it, and when you peak, you get those heart racing panic attacks. With Sativa dominate strains you don't burn out near as bad, and they have less of an effect on your body, and also contiain more CBD %, which is the cannabinoids that relax you more, and give you more of and "up euphoric high" without the Heavy body stone. Unless you get a hybrid, which most strains are now a days. It's very hard to find a hybrid that is more Sativa dominant. I wish they would legalize marijuana, because it would make it much safer, and then people would be able to choose whether they would like an indica type strain or a sativa strain.

It's very hard to find a Sativa strain. I wish I could find a mail order marijuana supplier in Canada, that lets you choose your strains, and is excepting customers. :(

Yup, I'm pretty sure you are right Sir. Because, majority that I get off dealers in my City I can totally tell are indica dominant, because the buds are VERY dense and hard nugs.

Sativa is the way to go, i'm pretty sure... ;)

Indica is definetly a cruisy relaxin type whereas Sativa is more of a stimulating mind high. if youre looking for something to calm you down then Indica is definately the way to go but Im not sure which is most likely to cause anxiety.
