I'm 18 and I smoke more or less every day. What kind of adverse health effects will I experience if I were to continue this for years? Short term memory loss, smokers' cough, scratchy voice, even anything minor like that? Or is marijuana really that harmless to the user's health?

If you are having fun smoking and don't get any negative effects then go for it. I had to stop as the paranoia and anxiety got too much for me.

^^^those are some pretty sad stats, thats over 16,000 a day :(

you'll lose your keys a lot... and possibly forget some doctors appt's... but no worries lil one, you'll be fine.

AS I have gotten older it seems that I cough more, but overall the effects would be way less than smoking cigs. If you are really concerned, a safe alternative is to use a vaporizer. Only bummer is that they use a lot of weed.

maybe you have an inefficient vaporizer? i know my friend's makes a tiny bit of weed go a LONG way.

anyway, ive been smoking almost every day for 2 and 1/2 years and I'm 18. the only thing I notice is that I appreciate the beauty of life more than ever and cough up a little resinous saliva now and then

been smoking for 1 1/2yrs and havnt noticed any effects...sure i cant even do half a lap in P.E. but then again i couldn't do that even before i started smoking...
as for the memory loss i dont know what kind of fuckd up shit you guys have been smoking but i have never experienced memory loss from weed and neither has anybody i know

you must get some shitty weed, or oregano.. or it comes with time, i can't remember (how ironic).. ;)

..but the most common short term effects of a small dose of cannabis include difficulties with memory retention and retrieval, it's a well known fact.

no way its definetly a fact that memory loss is a problem, do your homework man sure weed is amazing but when youre older of course youre gonna have memory loss and all that, depending on how much you smoke a day and how long you plan on keeping it up then hey yoy may even go bald by the time all your friends just got married.

Yeah, biggest one.. you don't get that stoned anymore ;-)
But yeah.. if you smoke quite a bit, your lungs aren't going to be as nice as they once were.

Also, if yuo build up a nice tolerance from smoking alot, you'll have withdrawls such as being shitty when you can't get on (score).. and you might even do something as deseprate as smoke pipe tar.. seeing as it is discussed so much in this forum. ;-)

ive only been smoking for about 7-8 months now, last couple months pretty heavily, and iam starting to notice effects, it seems like my air passage has gotten generally smaller, sudden chest pains accasionally, i just dont feel respitorily healthy as i once was, on the outside i work out often, and all of that but i guess i just have week lungs. Ive decided to cut down on smoking because of this

ive been smoking everyday for the last 4 yrs or so and the biggest problem hasnt been physical with me. I've noticed that i have become a lot more shy and less outgoing than before i smoked.

Im also starting to notice some smokers cough now too but i guess that just comes with smokin :(

Been smoking pretty much everyday for 3 years. I have bad memory but I hardly forget things that are really important. Maybe cuz I don't have much going on in my life so everything is easy to remember.

I've been smoking for about 4 years, but only daily for about the last year....

I've found that my short-term memory is often shot to shit, such as remembering what I had for dinner, or remembering to call someone.
