Question about jail/prison

county sucks I would rather spend my time in state it is much more lax. Anyway, I know you can't send him porn but when my ex was in prison I sent him Jugs and other sexy lady mags that weren't nude. After a month or so he will start making friends and it won't be so bad. No one ever wrote me so I relied on other inmates for entertainment and became quite close with my roomie. Would also go to library and pick up free mags to mail my ex.

Fucking hell i would hate to go to jail in the US. As bad as Canadian prisons are and there are some proper bad ones i would rather go to the worst Canadian prison over the best US jail.

One thing you could help your friend with is getting a degree in something if he's interested in that. Anything that would help him get a job when he get's out would help alot. Ive never been locked up (my jail time was a total of a day and a half so not very impressive :\ ) but if i ever am i would just read up on everything and anything that's educational along with revolutionary material of course ;) . So that along with lifting weights constantly i would come out the most educated and in shape motherfucker in the joint :D

Actually a really good way to get on the good side of other inmates is to help them with their courses and such if your educated yourself. I know a guy that did this and he barely had to pay for a pack of smokes or some ganja the whole time he was in there.

send him his favorite music lyrics to songs (he will love you for it) btw nice of you not to give up on him jail is very lonley even if you make "friends" in jail.

Nothing worse then being locked up with no one on the out side waiting for you to get out (else whats the point)

Because in Canada even the hardcore felons are super nice eh? ;)

To OP have you considered visiting your friend. Face to face time might be more help than a letter. But that's just me I don't know I've never been to prison or jail so...

You can always find new people when you get out.

Yes especially the bikers and such they even say excuse me right before they stab you :p . It's the conditions in prisons that scare me more then prisoners. I can handle myself in a street fight pretty good and besides the only prisoners that get picked on are the ones that are easy pickings so to speak. Noone likes getting a broken jaw out of it so if you do get trouble from anyone just go as apeshit as you can and chances are noone else will try it. Worked for a friend of mine so yeah :\ . I wouldn't want to spend years in county or whatever i mean fuck that right off. It's not other people that scare me it's myself really :\

When i was in jail, the most important thing to hear about for me was news and anecdotes about what was going on outside. I never got mail, but made plenty use of the phone system...anyways, it was tough on me to hear about how much people missed me, but hearing what other people were doing helped me feel connected to the outside world and reminded me that it would still be there when i got out...i was only in there for a month, so not sure if it still applys to longer times, but i think it does

books/stories are also important. they get you out of your head for a while and you can forget where you are. Like people said, jail is horrible, so that escape becomes a necessity.

also, i know you said you didnt have any money, but if you can get any together, i cannot stress enough how amazing commissary is. getting some food other than institutional food? amazing...nothing tastes better. plus (at least in Bernallio County MDC) they only fed you 1800 calories a day, so getting that extra bit of energy makes the experience easier

Not if you got no one to go back to. No where to stay, live, work.... no friends to depend on...

I guess were talking about a year only but... doing time sucks, and it messes with your head... makes much harder to meet people IMO

I visit him every weekend, sometimes twice.
