If one were to take a psychedelic that has a very long onset(think 2c-p, 3 hours before it kicks in), while they were very sleepy, would the psychedelic influence dreaming, or would the stimulation from the chemical just cause that person to wake up? 2c-p is really the only chemical with a long onset i have easy access to, so i guess my question can be narrowed down to it, though i would be interested to know about other psyches as well.

The ability to influence my dreams has always fascinated me, and i think it would be awesome to experience psychedelic dreams(as if the aren't already psychedelic). any input would be appreciated.

I've never done the experimental psychedelics, just the established ones like shrooms and LSD. I can tell you that my worst trips have been when I was tired, because the entheogens did not allow me to sleep. Instead, I drifted into semi-unconsciousness and it sort of placed me right in the middle of being awake and asleep. It was hard to relate to the waking world (and my friends), but also impossible to get true rest. It was tormenting.

On the other hand, after every intense experience with LSD, I have what I like to call "psychedelic sleep" which is where I sleep for a longer time than usual, and it is very deep and restful with no dreams. I wake up feeling like a new person.

Dreams are already psychedelic, DMT plays a role in sleep so its not surprising that dreams are weird on their own. Even if you ingest a plant/chemical to have more psychedelic, trip like dreams, you won't remember all of it anyways. If you want to experience a psychedelic state of mind while you're dreaming, try becoming lucid while your dreams happen. Look up lucid dreaming, and astral projection. Astral projection focuses on the spiritual aspect of dreams, and teaches that you can "leave your body and explore the world," but I personally believe its all bullshit. It's easy for the mind to create a reality in a lucid state while you're dreaming. Just because you're aware of your dream doesn't mean you're actually having an out of body experience and are able to go anywhere you want in the universe; now THAT kind of belief is laughable, its no different than superstitious religious belief. The only reason I bring up astral projection is because the methods used to 'astral project' (enter a lucid state of mind) are the same methods used to lucid dream. I've found that the methods shown on the internet for astral projection are easier to understand and explained better. Astral projection and lucid dreaming are the same, except those who 'astral project' actually believe they are leaving their body and are connected to a cord that will allow them to return to their bodies; as I said, its superstitious nonsense. When you 'astral project,' or are lucid dreaming, you're simply conscious of your dreams. There is nothing spiritual about it, it isn't your soul, or spirit leaving and 'traveling around the earth,' thats bogus.

Mirtazapine has slight 5-ht2a or something affinity, it's said most users get intensly vivid dreams, long just so real dreams.
I haven't tried it with other psychedelics, well... I have with mushrooms and DXM, and I didn't dream.

I tried it with ether and weed, and boy that was some of the most intense dreams ever.. so long, vivid, I had to check my pockets in the morning to see if my award coins for winning the war were still in there, then I realized I wasn't wearing pants.

Coming from a person who very very rarely remembers dreams, only if they're massivly intense and vivid.

It is only speculated that DMT plays a role, its not proven at all its basically just a guess.

It makes sense though. There is definitely a psychedelic aspect to dreams, DMT would explain that. Whatever the case, dreams are pretty 'trippy' on their own.

the only response i can actually give to keebsington to actually answer his question ... is that i had a friend who took a tripstacy pill and then fell asleep , did not wake up after it should have peaked and had no special aspect to his sleep .

I guess it depends on your mood, but I've closed my eyes and drifted off to dream-like states on a large dose of acid in which I was completely immersed in an oceanic expanse of fractals and a whole bunch of crazy shit happened from there!

perhaps the deepest-dream like state I've ever plunged into was with one of my experiences with 6-apb. it was literally as if i was unconscious for three hours or so hours while i watched detailed imagery, kind of like "mind movies" on MDMA, but way more strange and psychedelic. I've never really achieved such a state with LSD, 2c-p, or any other powerful hallucinogen, though i have sustained trance like states where it seems almost as if i can control the world around me, most notably on acid. i appreciate everybody's input, and after pondering what zaggy and RhythmSpring posted and my own subjective experiences, I've realized I'm probably more interested in achieving transcendental dream states while fully immersed in the psychedelic experience, rather than going to sleep before a psychedelic kicks in. the dream theory still remains a thought of interest for me, but it seems as though my interest has been peaked in a slightly different direction. on a side note, when i take alprazolam, i usually have verrrrrrrrrrrrrrrry vivid dreams, so real in fact that for a short time when i wake up, its hard for me to grasp whether or not the dreams were real.8o
i have many friends who experience similar effects on dreaming with most benzos, but i guess thats a different thread.

I would think the stimulation of most psychedelics would wake you up. One time I took DOB in the morning expecting to wake up when the effects would build - and at some point before the actual effects started I could feel being wired enough to prevent any further sleeping.
On AMT though, I tend to fall asleep but I don't recall dreaming vividly - it's way too trance-like IME.

I'd recommend taking a good dose of a psychedelic while lying down in a dark room closing your eyes. I would say take LSD, but if you can't get good blotters, take whatever else you want.

On the subject of trances, I have found LSA to be very trance-inducing.
