I was never told by the doctors nor the chemist about the sexual dysfunction that it carrys and side affects and almost impossible to ejaculate. I was wondering if it was possible to adapt to SSRI's or if there are other alternatives available to improve on sex life any info would be great thanks.

Periactin (Cyproheptadine) is somewhat effective in making it easier to achieve orgasm whilst on SSRI's. If you can stay awake on it that is.

Its an over the counter anti-histamine but it is quite old so a lot of pharmacies don't carry it. You might have to shop around a bit.

Periactin + a couple of dexies used to do the trick for me. Other than that you could always discuss changing your SSRI with your doctor. The sexual side-effects of some are far less than others. Of course this has to be balanced against the efficacy of your current drug in treating the condition for which it was prescribed. If another SSRI will let you cum but isnt as good for your depression/anxiety or what ever well its best sticking to the old one.

To be honest, unless you are in a long term committed relationship, why not just enjoy walking round with the knowledge that you are a super stud and can satisfy even the most stubborn of women (assuming you're male of course)

Sorry to hear about this problem.

I have been taking SSRIs for almost a week now (taking zoloft 50mg) and have yet to notice any sexual side effects. If anything my orgasms are better and I am hyper sexual. However, the pharmacist warned me that sexual dysfunction occurs around a month after you take it. When did it start happening for you?

I have read that Wellbutrin causes no weight gain and no sexual dysfunction. It is an SNRI which means that it inhibits norepinephine rather than serotonin. The question is whether it would be effective for treating your depression, and whether you find it too stimulating. Also you would probably have to withdraw from the SSRI first (no fun). My doctor also says Effexor (also an SNRI but works on serotonin too) has a low risk of sexual dysfunction. But IMO the other side effects from it are really nasty.
