I haven't read all the replies, so I might be repeating some things...
Production is not necessarily the problem. Being forced to produce for someone you don't agree with or who will punish you if you don't is the problem. There are too many people. Communication and transportation are too fast and accessable. The world needs to slow down before the efficiency of social-trance-indoctrination irrevocably determines the path and destruction of humanity. The system of living as seperate nations is a barbaric, primitive, inherently war-like system. We, my nieghbors, my people, mankind, have the possability now of mass education, and, at some point, I think that it will be auspicious to apply the knowledge of wisdom to the transcendence of the present conception of politics and nationalism.
Nations came into existence defensively. Once the old myths that once and still seperate humanity (racisms and stereotypes and ignorant egocentrism) are replaced by a more accurate, compassionate, logical, and consistent understanding of the world, there is no point in having offensive/defensive borders that run any deeper than borders of districts. A world of nations is inherently in a state of war, inherently in a panick, and this has its reflection in the "colletive subconscious." It's an existential anxiety, an anxiety of looking for a purpose of life rather than life itself. How can anyone expect True world peace to be "built" if the system that claims to build it is inherently in war? In a system of nations, which is "a state of war" by its nature, only metaphors, philosophies, denials, and rationalizations of "peace" can arise, because True peace is BEING the peace.
Isn't this what the EU is doing? Or, at least, wasn't that it's professed purpose? A system of nations can be transcended by the natural system of humanity: community. Community is the identification of family. People need to be more Amish, so to speak. The problem of production is that there shouldn't HAVE to be any production other than production of a community for the mutual well-being of its own community, which is supposed to be your tribe, your family. Humans--just like ever other thing in the universe--is supposed to be able to trust itself for its own suvival; it's made to grow responsable for itself, and it does regardless of what system we have. But in the system of nations, the expression of "trusting oneself for his own survival" and "being responsible for himself" is quite ugly and selfish and offensive and results in the destruction of his planet and his own kind.
