Prescription Hallucinogen?

What are the main prescribed hallucinogens out there? From easy to get to hard to get?

Presumably LSD is getting to be prescribed for migraine headaches, at low doses of course.

That's quite a presumption!

It was discovered that tryptamines can help relieve severe cluster headaches, but LSD is not likely to be prescribed for that purpose. 2-Bromo-LSD (BOL) is an analogue without the psychedelic effects that also helps headaches. But even that is not legal to prescribe.

I doubt you will find many. Hallucinating has too much of a negative stigma to be considered a "safe" side-effect, and far too little research has been done regarding the true effects of drugs whose primary effect is to cause hallucinations.

some people report hallucinations from high doses of mirtazapine. can't say i've experienced any while on it.

I heart however I could be wrong that some anti histamines were hallucinogens.
Sadly I only heard this recently and my mums medicine cabinet used to be packed with them.

Yes technically diphenhydramine (benadryl) is a hallucinogen. Specifically a deleriant. Generally unpleasant, if not terrifying or painful on every level.

I don't really want to include it, but zolpidem?

Yeah that ones kinda lame... but its fun for a try or two... until you wake up pantsless in the hallway with a towel in the toilet and vomit on the floor with no recollection of any of it.

For the record, AMT was a prescription drug that ended up being pulled BECAUSE of it causing hallucinations. Sad to say, this stuff happens. So despite a drug being perfectly good at what it is supposed to do, as soon as people abuse it for a "trip" or visuals, they get pulled....

ketamine (rare but sometimes used in sub-anesthetic doses for neuropathic or otherwise odd pain as an analgesic)
the horribly unpleasant delirants. found as antihistamines, antiemetics and anti-parkinsonians.
Nitrous Oxide as employed for sedation and analgesia during dental procedures.
indirectly and not in enough quantity to causing psychedelic effect..trazadone is a pro-drug of the shitty psychedelic/migraine and neasua inducing drug, meta-chlorophenylpiperazine possibly the worst of the piperazines which are already bad. also, getting enough to trip would kill you from the trazadone.

I've heard that some ergolines have been shown to relieve migraines, but not LSD as far as I know. Al though LSD has been shown to relieve cluster headaches along with psilocybin mushrooms. MAPS is conducting studies into psilocybin and LSD for cluster headaches.

My friend uses psilocybin mushrooms medicinally. His cluster headaches come in cycles; a few months without headaches, and then a few months with increasingly intense cluster headaches. If he takes mushrooms before his headaches, he skips the entire cycle. If he takes mushrooms while he's having cluster headaches, the headaches stop until the next cycle.

He found out by mistake. When he was younger he did mushrooms for fun while he was having his headaches. He noticed the headaches went away but didn't think anything of it. The next time he did mushrooms he noticed that he skipped his entire cycle, and then remembered how his headaches went away the first time he did mushrooms. Ever since then he simply takes mushrooms at least once every five months or so and he never gets cluster headaches.

Has anyone found that any other tryptamines relieve cluster headaches? I've only heard of LSD and psilocybin, but I'm interested if any other typtamines can relieve them. I'd assume other chemicals similar to psylocibin would relieve them, such as 4-ACO-DMT and 4-OH-DMT.

Does anyone on BL have experience or know of any studies where they have been shown to be effective as well?

Are you implying all tryptamines can relieve severe cluster headaches? I'd like to see a study showing which tryptamines have been shown to be effective if you know of any.

Amazing personal anecdote to back up the research! I don't know where any of the studies are off the top of my head though, though I have seen them before.

Yeah he had excruciatingly painful, debilitating cluster headaches, to the point where he would be stuck at home all weekend and he'd struggle to simply go to work or school. I've only known him for a couple years, but apparently he's been getting cluster headaches for as long as he can remember. They severely affected his life, and it's great to see beneficial uses from psychedelics besides the ones that have kept us enthusiasts coming back all this time. :D

It appears these psychedelics are the only drugs shown to be effective in ending the cluster headaches while they are worsening. Other drugs are effective if taken before the cycle starts, but they don't put the cycle into remission like psychedelics do.

Here's a link to a few MAPS articles on anecdotal evidence supporting LSD and psylocibin for use to relieve cluster headaches, and they are researching it now. If any one knows of any articles on actual studies, not just anecdotal evidence, I'd be interested in the links and I'm still interested if anyone knows of any studies on other tryptamines shown to relieve cluster headaches, or really any other physical ailments for that matter.

Yeah I personally have never known anybody who suffered from those headaches, but I've heard its god awful...

But of course, a drug that hasnt killed anybody is unable to help legally... ugh..

But good for him for finding a solution.

And lol howd we take so long to remember Ketamine?
