Opioids Pregabalin for opiate withdrawal (question)

Well, let me start by saying it's been a looooooong time since I've posted in this forum.

To get to the heart of the matter, pregabalin is superb at killing opiate withdrawal, it absolutely kills it dead unless you are in hardcore wd. I just (well, 23 days ago) jumped off 24mg of bupe and the pregabalin and lofexidine I had were absolutely superb at providing relief. I'm still in the acutes but the physical symptoms are bearable without any pharmaceutical intervention now unless I want to go out.

The question I have is.....

Does pregabalin simply put off the withdrawal, or does it cover the symptoms whilst allowing the detox process to continue like a wonder drug. I'm leaning towards the latter but I'm interested to know if there is any serious discussion or academic papers out there on the matter.

So, enlighten me! Point me in the direction of serious anecdotal evidence or even better peer reviewed academic papers please.

The latter. I mean, it isn't an opioid, and only an opioid will truly affect opioid WD, in the sense of extending/reducing/eliminating it.

Pregabalin merely helps to mask the symptoms of opioid WD, it doesn't stop the actual WD symptom.

So don't worry about that. And 23 days? It's been a long time for me...
