Hey all, you may not know it but I pray for everyone here in the Dark Side. I really care for you all! When ever your feeling down, and need a special prayer just let me know. You can post it in here, or PM me. Not only will I pray for you but I'll make sure that 50+ recovering addicts and alcoholics are going to be praying for you and your prayer needs.

This is non-religious so there is no religion in this (like nothing church based).
I will make an exception :).
So don't think that you have to belive in god to recieve prayer.

This isn't just drug-related, this can be for anything!

My room mate needs prayer, he just came back from a bad relapse. Thank God that he's still alive. (I recently had a friend overdose, and was a minute from being dead).
I know everyone needs this prayer, so let it be done.

Well thats all.
I hope this thread takes off. :)
<3 u all

So who exactly are you praying too???

If its not religious and your not praying to any sort of God, how do you expect the prayer to be answered??

I'm praying to my higher power. Something I learned in the program.

Something inside me told me to start this thread, because i know that i'm not the only one going through fucking addiction.

I live in a awesome halfway house, it's not all strict like others. I've been through many halfways, but theres a connection in the one i'm in right now. You have to go to a meeting everyday(AA,NA,CA,etc..) wake up every morning and be in the community room at 8am to do a morning meditation, at the end the chairperson ask's if anyone needs prayer. I always have stuff to pray for, here lately i've been asking to pray for those inside and outside the room. those that are born in this addiction without knowing it. Give everyone the guidence and strength to get through the day.
I'm feeling it.

I also relised that I have a character defect of helping others that arn't willing to help them selves. It's something that i've given to my H.P.

I'm not trying to preach at all.
Prayers kept me alive, so I'm doing it to keep others alive. :)

this addiction i'm in kills people, and whats sad is that the people don't even know there dead until it's to late.

^ this rings so true - I guess I'd simply ask for strength to continue on pursuing the clean and purpose driven life that I have in front of me. Pray that I may be a decent, good, kind man - and be humble where I'm strong , learn where I'm weak.

This is a really cool thread D's. Youve a kind Spirit for sure!
This is for your room mate and anyone/everyone else on BL/IRL.

Give us Wisdom and the courage of our convictions,
as We make life decisions
Today and everyday.
Some may be simple,
others complex,
but all require honesty
and quiet reflection.
We pray that with guidance,
Our heart's will be open to the will of life's true Spirit
and whatever choices
We are asked to make.

Thanks for this thread. A nice idea, and good to see more people involved in the program on this forum. It really does help a lot of people turn their lives around.

Just so you know there is a prayer request thread in the Spirituality section of these forums.

Prayer has many uses. In general, it directs our mind to our higher
possibilities, however we may define them. In this way prayer is used to
exalt, to uplift the mind, to purify, to empower, to receive and share
blessings.
~Buddhist Prayer by Jason Espada,

Nine Short Prayers

May I become sure medicine for every pain.

May the force of caring
increase in me

May my thoughts be healing
May my words be healing
May my actions be healing
May my breath be healing
May my look be healing
May my touch be healing

May I hold as my delight
the removing of suffering of living beings
and giving them happiness

May I dedicate myself to others

May I increase my ability to help others.

May virtue increase

May whatever is good within me increase

May that which is beneficial within me increase

i'm not religious by any means, but always try to live by some sort of christian moral.
.....i met my new next door neighbour just last week, it happens that she is quite religious. we have a few things in common....anyway, to cut a long story short, i ended up with my neighbour and one of her girlfriends holding a shoulder each and praying for me..
i'd be grateful to be thought of in your prayers too, i know theres some higher power trying to get a message to me.. i just havent got the message yet.

i need some prayer, just coming out of an overdose. need the strength to face the consaquiences.

give the courage we all need to make it through another day.

Addiction has siezed my soul
and I am in pain . . . hollow inside
control of myself and my life is gone
but, I pretend that I am still in control
fear and rage mingle inside me,
pushing anyone who loves me away
isolating me in my prison of drugs/substances
a prison of regret, shame and grief
I live in the past . . . and I live in the future
right now is a nightmare . . . and I can't wake up

Release me from my own addiction
open my heart to hope and life
open my eyes to see I can escape into recovery
make me dare to be willing . . . to let go of drugs
to let go of fear . . . self hatred . . .and shame
help me let go of hopelessness

Im confused by this thread, when you are saying a prayer like the ones above, whether you want to believe in a higher power or not, someone will hear it & help you whether you want to acknowledge you've been helped by a higher power.

^ lol yup, if you didnt get somethin from it, it would be pointless. :)

I think it has more to do with people helping themselves with what they are doing....and being aware of their intentions and meanings.
People are Brainwashed into believing that prayer is just for the Traditionally Religious...It is a Meditation and a grounding of the Mind to bring peace and clarity, compassion and mental strength into one's life...
If you say 'Hello, how are you?' to someone; are you really aknowledging their presence kindly and genuinely asking how they are doing, or are you just doing what you have been conditioned to do? It all depends on the meaning.
Prayer is intended as meaningful, therefore it enriches people who say it; promotes hope and peace in the person saying it and therefore they will have that state of being and good will to pass it on to those they encounter....people in life are terribly intuitive you know, whether they are conscious of it or not(people in this state are generally more light, productive, clear in their mind, hopeful about their situation because relying simply on Society or other people, things or situations ;is purely a conditonal transaction; If it doesnt hold conscious meaning ).

If you say anything in your head that promotes good will and a desire for peace it is prayer! Whatever it is!
If you are in a good place in your life and you say:''Fuck it! Im content it makes sense, I wish everyone could know what this is like''-Thats prayer. If your in a bad place and you say: ''Fuck it! I really dont want to be like this, I hope nobody ever has to go through this, I hope I can come out of it!''-thats prayer'...but it has to hold genuine meaning and reflection, otherwise it's just empty words.

If a person doesnt agree with it, then they dont have to do it...it's whatever you choose. :)
