i know these are different disorders but they manifest (from what i've seen) in brutal, sadistic, fucked up actions. can someone explain how, in practical terms they are different?

I have bpd. Please understand that when we act in ways that seem selfish, harsh and irrational... We do not realize we are doing it. Generally, those with bpd have highly under developed emotional coping skills usuall due to childhood trauma or neglect. So we experience intense emotions that we have no idea how to handle so we react in childish and overreactive ways. We are not bad people, we're just lost, and most of us hate ourselves. I never intend to hurt anyone, though i often do. Check out this site: http://psychcentral.com/disorders/borderline-personality-disorder-symptoms/

To answer your question though.... Sociopaths lack morals, and do to not seem to have a conscience. People with bpd love and care for others deeply... It's the struggle within themselves that makes them act the way they do
