Got some major surgery this week, do I have any opiate withdrawals coming?

14 mcg/hr fentanyl
0.4-0.8 mg IV hydromorphone every 2-3 hours, ceasing today, day 3, as I switch to norcos

Thanks

I'm sorry, I'm not quite understanding your post. Are you saying that you were only receiving these drugs for three days? If that's the case then, no you should be fine.

It seems I'm on fentanyl equivalent to 72mg oxycodone daily, plus about 60mg hydrocodone daily.

This regimen is equivalent to just over 100mg oxy a day!

Are withdrawals coming? Also, I haven't shit since Tuesday, it's Saturday

100mg oxy a day for a week. Have you previously had an opiate habit? If so your WDs will be worse. If not I'd say you'll suffer some discomfort and insomnia for a few days but you should be ok and avoid full blown hell.

Every body is different and every metabolism reacts differently the the same situation.

Good luck.

I have read somewhere that it usually takes at least two weeks of around the clock dosing on opiates to become dependent. That's why most people who have surgery and take opiates for a week don't need to be weaned off.

However, everyone is different. I also think if a person was a prior opiate addict then they might become dependent sooner. Although, that's just speculation on my part. Certainly they would be more at risk for psychological dependance (aka: addiction). If you're worried then I would talk to your doctor hon. But, IMO, I think you'll be fine.
