Police: Teen on drugs dies after Taser hits

EULESS — An autopsy has been ordered on a teenager who died two days after police shot him with a Taser gun three times in order to subdue him.

Euless police said Kevin Omas of Grapevine had ingested two tabs of Ecstasy and four hits of LSD at a party before they were called to a reported disturbance early Sunday.

Authorities said Omas, 17, was unruly and charged at officers repeatedly. A supervisor fired all three Taser darts at Omas, zapping him with 50,000 volts of electricity each time, before he was subdued.

"The Taser was the only way for us to get control," Assistant Police Chief Harland Wesmoreland said.

Omas was treated at the scene by paramedics, then taken to John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth, where he went into a coma. He died Tuesday.

Euless police are conducting their own investigation in addition to the autopsy.

It is nearly impossible to REQUIRE three taser shots to subdue someone. One taser shot is enough to incapacitate ANYONE at least enough to cuff 'em and throw 'em in the car.

This is just shameful...
 
^^ Agreed. This is an example of police brutality at its finest. And you know the worst part is? When your a cop... you know you can get a way with shit like this because all that happens is a paid suspension. Gotta love the 5-0 huh? Always stoping crime and doing good deeds. I mean of course this kid deserved to die, right? GOD! I would like to tase 1 of the cops who killed this kid 3 times and see if they could take it. FUCKING BITCHES!

Right, because if you didn't use the taser, he would have grown four more arms and another head, and would have eaten everyone within a ten block radius. Give me a break.
 
I'm sure just one tasor would've killed him too because it probably would have scared him to shit and interacted with the drugs to shock his brain dead. They should have xanax tranq guns for wild beast teenagers on drugs.
 
Fuckin 3 tasers. i don't know how credible jackass is but in the first ep knoxville hit the deck after one taser bolt.

what would be good is the trip report from the guy who died (yes i know he's dead, but it would be an awesome report)

The kid could probably have barely walked.
 
People are so quick to yell wol....police brutality.

Maybe this kid was big. On 3 doses of any stimulant I'm sure we all have a little more energy in us. I'm kinda puzzled why the officers didn't just tackle him. Makes me wonder what kind of kid this was.
 
In the end, any autopsy will most likely say that he died as a result of the drugs and not the electricity. The cops will bee cleared of any wrongdoing.

Speaking of "jackass" they just had a special episode of "viva la bam" with the metal band Gwar. lol
 
four hits of LSD and ecstacy what disturbance would this guy be doing... seems liek cops jus givin him a hard time then shit got out of hand. the kid was prolly all lovey and trippin out couldnt understand what the cop was tellin him to do and got his ass shot with 3 tazers. 1 is shot is MORE than needed for 1 person AND THIS IS A GOD DAMN TEEN.

i was leaning more towards an explanation of why he attacked the police after ingesting the E and acid. that would be a good read, not that the explanantion would be too logical.

Though hiis thoughts at the time of zappage would be interesting; harrowing likely too.

The fucking pigs killed him, not the drugs. This fills me with so much hate and sadness. A 17 year old kid was killed by cops and now acid and MDMA are to blame. America.... where cops can easily get away with murder. The thing is we have no way of overcoming the authority. We're trapped and oppressed.
 
You guys make it like cops kill someone and just walk away as if it's an everyday part of their job.

I guarentee you these cops feel like shit over this, and they are getting hell from their bosses, their coworkers, their families, and their community. You have no idea how crazed a community will get over an issue like this.

Has anyone heard of the coked out guy who held his daughter hostage in California recently? A shootout occured and both the kid and father died. Autopsies have yet to prove who shot her (as late as I've heard). I'm sure there are some Californians here, it was all over the news when I visited there.

Anyways, I believe it's relevant in two aspects. The cops were doing their job, which is hard. Even harder given the situation. Secondly, people cried "Police Brutality". The LAPD has had some bad publicity with Rodney King, though I think that was a crock of bullshit.

I am sure the cops are suprised a tazer killed him. How shocked would you be if you shot your friend with something considered nonlethal, like a paintball gun, and he just dies?
