Police Brutality Thread

Anyone dying at the hands of the police while cuffed and restrained is innocent. Shit, anyone dying by their hand at ALL.
George Floyd is responsible for his own death as he made the choice to smoke crack, use opiates/fentanyl, METH, which he overdosed and died from. He also made the choice to rob and threaten to kill women who he hated, and abandon his children/family as he cared more about being a violent criminal and using heroin, crack, and METH.

Chauvin wanted to plead to 3rd degree murder or manslaughter but this was not allowed.

The jurors knew the danger they were in, and were afraid. The jury should have been sequestered or completely private and the media not allowed to film or broadcast the trial, jury, etc.

My understanding is that you get prosecuted for the crime you are charged with. The prosecutor decides this and it is a privilege, not a right, for you to be able to plead to a lesser charge under a plea deal.

So I don’t see that your point is evidence of a miscarriage of justice.

I find this a grossly offensive statement to be made on BL. Sure there are asshole addicts but Floyd did no more in the depths of his illness than any number of people here have or could easily have done.

Trying to paint addiction influenced behaviour as being coldly rational and calculated does not stand much scrutiny if the testimonies of so many people here are to be believed.

Ohh k. What does any of that have to do with Chauvin killing him? Was that his defense?

Speaking of Elijah mccain, how does ketamine kill someone? I understand 500mg IM is a huge dose for anyone, especially a novice, but still, I thought that amount definitely wouldn't kill someone.

Sooo you think it is fine George Floyd broke into a woman's house, beat her up, threatened to kill her, and giving her C-PTSD for the rest of her life, is all excusable because he was addicted to heroin/opiates, crack, and METH?

atelier is not saying that at all.

i don't know how you read his post and come to that conclusion.

Glad the jurors made the right decision today. Logic won. Fairness won. We made progress.

Still unfortunate that it took a worldwide movement to reach this point. And we're still so far behind.

If I were the Floyd family, I would at least be comforted knowing that Chauvin will be sleeping in a jail cell tonight.

No. That’s not what I said. It’s not ‘fine’ that anyone would do such things, on drugs or otherwise.

I’m saying two things really. One is that those actions were immaterial in the trial of Chauvin. The other, is that on this judgement-free harm reduction site we are pretty big on the idea that drug addicts are ultimately capable of redemption and worthy of forgiveness once they sort themselves out. Floyd may not have been at that point yet, but we’ll never know if he could have made it. Because HE WAS MURDERED.

There’s more than a few ex-women bashing standover merchants here on BL. In fact there’s a whole bunch of people who actively encourage violence in certain situations. I don’t see you wishing extra-judicial murder on any of them.

In either case, you’ve made your point you find Floyd distateful in life and believe society improved by his death. Stop being repetitive. It looks like gloating. And gloating is ugly.

It depends upon the animal, and it was too much for him as the article and anesthesiologist said.
So, you will question the experts when it fits your anti-violence narrative? I guess that means you aren't racist, but maybe its because it was ems and not cops, maybe your bias is just pro-police..
Floyd and I wouldn't have been friends, but that doesn't mean his past defines him. For all you know, he found jesus and turned his life around since robbing the pregnant woman. He wasn't mugging anyone that day, or posing a danger to anyone. For all you know Chauvin beat his wife every night.

My bias here might be a little pro-k, but I just don't see 500mg IM killing someone unless there was an underlying medical condition or another drug interaction.

I've seen people more emotionally affected by parking fines than this guy was when found guilty.

I wouldn't be surprised if he still believes he can call in a favour, have some strings pulled and get this issue quietly resolved.

no doubt his representatives had him prepared emotionally.
I'm sure they're already focused on the minimizing the sentence and building their appeal.

Will the Floyd 'family' who George completely ignored and cared more about bags of dope/fent, crystal METH, and crack than his own children and family, do the right thing and donate any or most of their $$$ to rebuilding the cities they and burn loot murder helped destroy by advocating for riots?

They will waste the money. It will be gone in 1-5 years, lawyers will get most of it, and their family, friends, etc. will get the rest and they will spend it like crazy.

The ultra wealthy both old money and new money, both in the USA and worldwide will hate them as they did nothing to earn, invest, inherit, or save this money.

wow

Yeah, unless Chauvin was like this guys personal friend im confused. Like, he says that Elijah mccain was murdered, who was black, so he appears not *racist*, yet then he says some completely racist shit like that making all these assumptions about his family and friends and what they will do with the money .... based on....? Is he classist? Is that it? Hates people with a criminal history? How does that speak to their families, and why aren't you racist about Elijah mccain? Got a soft spot for aspies?
