Police Brutality Thread

same here.

This feels like the culmination of everything that is wrong with both criminal justice and policing in the US along with the, frankly, excessive media coverage of the trial (why your judiciary feels that it is appropriate to bring cameras into a courtroom is still beyond me) and the resultant 'recreational outrage' that so many bandwagon bummers get off on, my own voyeurism notwithstanding. While I may be half a planet away, I see you come from the Midwest so please keep safe if out and about in populous areas should the shit hit the fan...

Thank you stee and I mirror your sentiments about the whole situation.

@cduggles Ironically I predicted that he would be found guilty of 3rd degree and get a 10 year sentence. It was what I thought the prosecution could prove. This was many posts ago. Guess a hung jury is out of the question and the talking heads can't convince me that a 10 hour deliberation can only mean guilty. Seems to me they had pretty much made up their minds yesterday and only dotted the i's today.

Jesus. When you add this to the multiple requests defence council has made to the Judge for a mistrial it seems that Mr Nelson has held a consistently dim view of his clients chances of aquittal.
Yes it does seem that is what Nelson was thinking. Just trying to minimize exactly what his client was guilty of.

Minneapolis has been declared in a state of emergency but people will still riot, burn, loot, murder...er...peacefully protest.
I'm burning a flag right now in your honor

Edit: its been reduced to ashes, but its funny, the small piece underneath the pile of shit I left in it (and the shit) won't burn, even though it got hot. Some of the water in the shit did boil, but the water, as always, won. I think ill keep the remaining cloth (cleaned of feces) on my altar for sentimental value - or would you rather I mail it to you?

To me, the usa government and the flag that represents it is guilty of all of its predessors as well, and it represents genocide, slavery, colonialism. It also represents the plutocracy that has kept us subservient through all time. Sure, not everyone in government is bad, but every government is bad. Except for a few in Scandinavia, they are barely even trying.

I am sorry, I do not understand your manic word salad.

Well, I don't feel any better. Even feel sorry for the guy, life in a cage, just doesn't sit right with me for anyone, but I guess it might be necessary in clear cut cases that have a victim and are violent in nature.

Either way, he is just the poster boy. Cops have been convicted before for similar things. Nothing special about this case, just a lot of media attention because of the riots. Hopefully at least half the cops will be on edge about using lethal force, especially on a minority, but considering you'd think they already would have been yet this shit has already been continuing, im not hopeful
