Police Brutality Thread

I would be interested to hear opinions from Americans about whether or not you guys think the riots might influence juror's decision making. It seems to me to be one of those cases that is impossible to be unbiased. There is enough fodder for reasonable doubt to accommodate the racist jurors and vice-versa. There is a lot of pressure to convict.

It's a fascinating case... 9/11 was beautiful. I'm sorry if that upsets people. It was a historic event that I witnessed. It woke me up. It shocked me.

I feel the same way, here.

Sometimes horrible shit makes you feel alive.

I realize how that sounds.

I like sadness because I love people and sadness brings me closer to them.
Wow. Just Wow.

Odd actually.

As I sit here trying my best to stay away from this (and have been sitting on my hands trying desperately to stay out of the fray for at least a week and for more than one reason) if you include today’s event, George Floyd, and the other dude that got tased first and then shot: I see three suspects resisting arrest by any means possible. All three of which, turns out, were guilty of a crime anyway regardless.

Sorry. This in response to post above by @deficiT i.e. some new posts made in the interim.

Haha I know how that goes, I try my best to avoid most things like this but end up always letting myself get sucked in. I certainly enjoy talking on here with people more than any other social media, even if I disagree with someone. Most of the banter is good natured (don't tell anyone else that though).

What was todays event?

Even if someone was resisting arrest, the penalty for that isn't death. Also, innocent until proven guilty. I don't really see how Floyd was any kind of mortal danger to the officer. They are trying to bypass the justice system and be judge, jury, and executioner of people that haven't been convicted of anything. That's whack. I really think a part of our culture kinda worships violence in a way and this is where some of the justification of these murders come from. We're just so desensitized to it that even when presented with video evidence, we find a reason why someone deserved death. Guarantee if it was someone y'all loved that got killed for "resisting arrest" you wouldn't be saying that they deserved it.

You probably don’t recall this but in reference to my last post above: I actually remember it being you that gave me that advice (while going hell for leather on my own polarising thread last year)! It has served me well since then! :)

If not you and I’m mistaken then it was @The Wizard of the Creek (cannot look it up as I deleted the thread).

Whatever the case: as I say it has served me well!

I would be fascinated to get your opinion on Chauvin and I certainly won't call you out. Would like very much to hear your thoughts.

I have a bad habit of not reading more than the last couple posts in the thread before commenting on it. Now looking back at this one, I feel the need to say that I didn't steal @Xorkoth 's arguments lol I just had the same thoughts:D great minds and all that

Well. I’ve thought about this often (and when I’ve seen the shenanigans going on over there).

Maybe different backgrounds or experiences (obviously I suppose). But here and if that were to happen: I would not say that they deserved it but for sure would understand why it happened. Subtle difference (or maybe not so subtle).

The irony (because I'm the minority here): my behind has been kept out of the slammer on at least three occasions precisely because I know better than to give a cop (in particular a black cop in my country) shit. Not rocket science here anyway. I’ve even had the privilege of one of them driving my car home while I followed in the van with the other officer (obviously me being well over the legal limit). But there are idiots here too of course. Only difference being is that our police don't get thrown to the wolves when somebody does give them shit and, well, something unfortunate happens. Me personally: I prefer it that way i.e. nice and simple!

And here I thought you actually liked me? You want me to get banned or what? It'll be so bad they'll even make an exception and delete, one by one and by hand, all of my quoted posts so as to make sure that I never even ever existed here! :ROFLMAO:

Oh. Just heard on the radio now. Another dude over there complaining i.e. apparently got pulled over for no plates, officer fired, and the dude now suing.

Alright. I'll respond. I'll limit my response to this thread and its topic (because there's other stuff that's been posted here in the last week or so and when put together with this thread has left an awful taste in my mouth).

Coming up.

Having breakfast with my Mom. Will be back in a while to absorb your words of wisdom.

As undertaken (for better or for worse).

I do not believe that OFFICER Chauvin meant to kill this individual. I had the same argument about Amber Guyger some time back. And could probably have the same argument about the other two recent cases that I cited above earlier. Aside from anything else and particularly with the political and racial pressures over there: no person would knowingly throw away a career like that. For the most part and from what I've seen: it's a calling over there. It's not just a job. And once they've been terminated from service (best case scenario i.e. not even convicted of anything but been terminated for political or PC expediency): let's be honest and say there's not a hell of a lot of other jobs they're going to be able to get (nor want to do).

Based on what I've watched of this trial: Mr. Floyd was already acting up even BEFORE anything happened. Take a good look at the footage from within the store. That dude, and his mate, were either knowingly up to something or (at very least) he wasn't quite himself (to put it in a nice way). Fast forward to when OFFICER Chauvin was arriving on the scene (from his own camera footage) and Mr. Floyd was already giving the other officers beef. He started with his "I can't breathe" long before he was on the ground. So for all OFFICER Chauvin knew: his continuing on with his "I can't breathe" while on the ground was simply him carrying on his (possible) charade. I say "possible" because MAYBE he couldn't breathe or MAYBE he was panicking or MAYBE he was claustrophobic (this being said: does that sound normal to you anyway i.e. funny that he'd gotten out of an SUV before going into the store and was just fine then) (big strapping dude like that having a panic attack or suffering from claustrophobia) (pull the other one) (and I'll bet you money that was the mindset of the officers too). Anyway. Easy mistake to make given that while he was in the police SUV: he didn't seem to be having too much of a problem breathing while whining now did he (in spite of his protests to the contrary). All of this being said: I think the long game (as somebody else put it) was to keep Mr. Floyd down until he'd calmed down and then take him away. Unfortunately things didn't quite turn out that way (and we can theorize until the cows come home as to why this was the case but it was not intent on the part of the officers that's for sure).

Just to add to the above: had OFFICER Chauvin looked down, checked on Mr. Floyd (you have no idea how it grinds me to address him as such but let's leave it at that for now), spoken to him, asked him if he was alright, had a little chat, maybe cracked a joke with him, and then STILL proceeded in the manner that he did and continued to pin him down? Well then: different story. But that's not how it went down.

And no matter which way you slice this: it's racial. But everybody too PC to admit it. And on this score: you think that the way the police are being treated over there doesn't affect them psychologically and piss them off and that doesn't play into their actions (possibly even subliminally)? Fuck me. If I was a police officer in the USA I for damn sure would have an axe to grind (and not even based on race). But I wouldn't let such axe cost me my career as a police officer. And nobody will convince me that any one of these officers woke up one morning and decided "well today is the day I'm going to end my career by finding some poor sap and using excessive force to kill some fucker". They'd shoot themselves in the head before doing that.

So there's my (nicest possible) take on this.

And for the love of God don't ask me how I THINK this should have all gone down! Mind you. Probably a moot point. Because I'm of the opinion that if Mr. Floyd WAS INDEED on the level and had simply been left in the back of the police SUV then he probably wouldn't have made it to the lockup anyway. And we'd still be here (only difference being that OFFICER Chauvin wouldn't be on trial i.e. probably be the officer or officers driving the police SUV) (but on lesser charges and on which they would probably still not get a pass i.e. best case scenario they'd be fired from the force because in this case, as with the others cited, a cop was going to pay one way or the other. Again.).

Now that's the exact reason I wanted you to reply. Very well said and most of what you said is true. Of course it's racially biased. The cops are fed up with the black population resisting arrest in their founded, and unfounded, fears that the cops are going to either kill them by gunshot or other means. They are sick of the drugs and the crimes that go along with it. They are sick of the many many man hours of arrests only to see them back out in a few days. And I also believe Floyd should in fact have been restrained. He had a warrant and had just had an altercation in Cup Foods so they wanted to arrest him.

I was born in 1958. Grew up in Virginia ( navy brat ) and my Mom and Dad were both racist. The N word. The whole 9 yards. Luckily my best friend in 8th grade was black so I was able to form my own opinions. Do I have racist thoughts? Of course I do. Parents do that. But color ( to me ) does not matter in this case. I saw a man. Not a black man. Being forcefully restrained by a CHAUVINistic cop long after the man was unconscious and had no pulse. And with almost a freakin' smirk on his face. Absolute disregard for life and I want him to be guilty of total disregard. I know he didn't mean to kill him ( hence no 1st degree being charged) but the man has to answer for what he allowed his emotions to do.

Ok Wikipedia. 8) I read and saw in the trial that Derek Chauvin was on George Floyd's shoulder, not his neck, and that Chauvin is maybe 140lbs while George was almost 300lbs. If you watch the video I posted George Floyd eats his fentanyl and overdoses from it. Even George's dealer who was in the car with him sees him do this and says to him 'you are going to die.' Also George Floyd was a violent criminal and had lots of hard drugs in his body before he took the dose of fentanyl by his own choice.

What ? I did not see this . The video pls . And What was the dealer said

In a Minneapolis suburb yesterday, right outside of where the Chauvin trial is taking place, yet another Black male was killed by a police officer in an "accidental" discharge of the officer's weapon situation.

So the new argument is “I grabbed the wrong weapon”? What kind of training are these people getting?

I didn’t know about this . Thanks . Can you think me to the fent stuff

Edit : around 14 min the officers are like “what you on ? The shaking of the eyes is pcp”

Btw priest since I’m talking to you . Someone on the intervention thread on another site thinks you’re ken seeley ( I was pretty certain even back then you aren’t )

Ken Seeley in the Intervention thread on bluelight.org says that Cristy tried to karate chop him during the intervention!!! To paraphrase Ned Flanders “I’m not sure if Diddly or Ding Dong Doodily…”

Hi Dewey,
Sorry for being late to your request.
Here’s what Ken wrote in the forum: “I’m Ken Seeley. That alcoholic and meth addict that said she wanted to pull out some Matrix shit during her intervention tried to Karate chop me!”
And here’s the link to the thread: http://www.bluelight.org/vb/threads/384085-Official-A-amp-E-s-quot-Intervention-quot-Thread/page2
Ken’s moniker on the forum is PriestTheyCalledHim

i’ve been hard pressed to find any coverage or commentary which hasn’t considered race as a factor...

alasdair
You're right. I should have been more specific.

I think I was more referring to the posts on this thread i.e. there's a few where we've gotten close to touching on the race issue but have stopped short and then backtracked in true PC fashion a step or two (in Maltese Poodle attack fashion type of thing).

To be clear though: I'm saying that if George Floyd wasn't black and Officer Chauvin wasn't white then this thread wouldn't exist.

Conversely and come to think of it: if George Floyd was anything else BUT white we'd still be here.

Before you get the big guns out though: let me respond to @Pumpkin2021's last reply to me of yesterday (started replying last night but it got too late here to finish up). You may be pleasantly surprised at my response believe it or not.

Alright. Let's not get too happy. This is the same shooting as was reported earlier yesterday on this thread already i.e. nothing new. This just the body cam footage of the same incident.

Anyway. Here's a much clearer view (can even get it in HD with a good connection). Gotta love the fact that on all of the footage I've seen that's now been released: the word "shit" is censored (but somebody got shot)! Oh well. At least she's not been thrown under the bus. Yet. But it's coming. The mainstream media already have their carefully chosen narratives and carefully chosen guests out there.

For the record (and then I'll be done with this post): here's the video of the dude that's now suing the police (to which I referred yesterday in passing).

What's sickening to me in the second video: the officer is so worried about his job that he actually tries to smooth things over and is caught on camera doing so. Fuck how it all went down.
