Police Brutality Thread

and the ability to take away our freedom.

I thought you forfeight that freedom when you break the laws society has agreed to for all citizens. The cops are there to enforce the law, otherwise there is no law.

He's encouraging people to cancel their meetings (but not to stop working) 🤣

Honestly hadn't heard of Junteenth until now. I see iPhone and Microsoft have put it in their default calendar of US Holidays. Why not back when the emancipation proclamation was signed? Why signify the date they finally got word in Texas 18mo later? Why not in August when KY finally freed them?

What I was talking about there, in context, was how the video highlighted we have mentally unstable police officers that have the ability to carry guns and take away our freedom. But yes, of course, what you stated is correct - but I would think we could agree we all want mentally stable individuals in those roles? If that police officer is paranoid and irrationally over reacts about McDonald's employees and an Egg McMuffin, that puts into question her ability to handle her duties in an unbiased, rational manner for all individuals she encounters. Which is obviously minor in comparison to some of these other police officers out there, officers like Chauvin, who are in a position of power and can hurt people with the power we allow them

Agreed. Likely why they have counselors and such, that aren't getting us to the level of competence and capability we expect. Sorry, I took your statement out of context. It was unintentional.

Should they be subject to worrying about what is in their food?

Who the fuck does this

Did you read the story about the black female cop with about 20 years experience and clean record that got fires because she stopped a white cop from choking a black guy?

Some shit about putting a fellow officers life in danger, no one stood up for her either.

Suppose I should find this story and link it, hang on a sec.

Definitely not, and at least in that specific case, it was a misunderstanding and the owner reached out to the officer and she actually wound up leaving positive feedback. I do think, it's inevitable, that people who chose to go into positions that symbolize power will always be subject to rebellion and the like though, with the current atmosphere or otherwise, it is just human nature. Should it happen ever, no, of course not. I don't think the individual should be punished for a systemic problem, unless the individual's actions directly contribute to that problem. And even then, messing with someone's fast food order probably isn't the correct way to achieve justice.

I also didn't know what Juneteenth was until this year. And you raise the same points I made with my girlfriend (who has known about it for a long time) when we were talking about it. Why are we just learning about it now? Why isn't it a national holiday? To me, this is a symptom of the systemic racism, maybe not even intentional, but we teach white history. We don't teach real history. We should be teaching the full picture in schools, don't you agree?

From 2017

Black Lives Matter co-founder appears to label white people ‘defects’
One of the founders of Black Lives Matter in Toronto says white people are “genetic defects” and should be “wiped out.”

Yusra Khogali has posted the controversial calls on her Facebook page, including another that says whites are “sub-human.”

“Whiteness is not humxness, in fact, white skin is sub-humxn,” she wrote. “All phenotypes exist within the black family and white ppl are a genetic defect of blackness.”

Why isn't Khogali being cancelled? Or even called out by Leftists?

And people deny that there is any anti-white bias and racism....

Well damn if that's accurate, that's really fucked up.

I wish people would quit pushing back just as hard against those who have wronged them. It just keeps the pendulum swinging. The only way we'll ever stop the pendulum and have peace is if people quit pushing it back. Someone needs to say "you know what, yeah this shit happened to me, and it was fucked up, but I'm going to forgive and move on". Two wrongs doesn't make a right. If you react against oppression by attempting to oppress your oppressor, then you just continue the hatred and oppression.

An eye for an eye makes the whole world blind...

People would keep pushing for acknowledgement of what they suffered at the hands of those that did these things at the very least, how that happens and whrn isn't going to be the same thing for everyone as it's generational but an apology and plan moving forward that is auctioned is what s needed, something that is genuine and seen to be genuine.

That's the one thing no one really sees is important, took a new govt to say IM SORRY , ffs over here.

Anyway, rest in peace G FLOYD.

His family shoild get compensation and a day of remembrance.

History needs to be recorded and passed on as wiping shit out after the fact, changing brand names of products and pulling widely known books off the shelves is not going to do anything but paint a confusing false record for future generations, pretty ridiculous waste of time too.

As in a national holiday? You've bumped your head.
Remember people for their positive contributions; this motherfucker was no hero. He didnt try to overcome the stereotype, he was your typical thug. Violent, lazy and crooked. Noone deserves to die that way, but doesnt deserve martyrdom

So the BLM riots are pushing back against police brutality and systemic racism. Where, might they feel this way?

FBI determines Wallace not victim of hate crime

The FBI has determined that NASCAR driver Bubba Wallace was not the victim of a hate crime and that a pull rope fashioned like a noose had been on a garage door at Talladega Superspeedway since as early as October, NASCAR said Tuesday.

"The FBI report concludes, and photographic evidence confirms, that the garage door pull rope fashioned like a noose had been positioned there since as early as last fall," NASCAR said in its statement. "This was obviously well before the 43 team's arrival and garage assignment.

For what it's worth, I had a feeling it was going to be like this as well, no way those cars worth millions don't have incredibly good 24/7 security and monitoring. I was going to cringe if it came back he planted it there, himself, and I felt guilty for thinking it - but damn it just made no sense someone would risk their freedom and bypass all that security to put a noose in there.

is this the same fbi that is part of the anti-trump deep state and can't possibly be trusted? that fbi?

:\

alasdair

Yeah, but if you look at the facts, all that paranoid nonsense is irrelavant. It was a rope that could be verified on video that had been there since last year, and it actually had some type of function for the garage, and beyond that, he just got assigned that stall. Seems pretty cut and dried.

Oh, conservatives are flabbergasted it took FIFTEEN FBI agents to figure this out. Then I remind them of the quality work Mueller did and we're fortunate it took only fifteen.
