Police Brutality Thread

I would t want a protester to be injured but I’m hoping some of the looters get shot or jail.

One of the business owners here threw two people out of his second story business. I'm not sure what happened, the video just showed the one guy laying on the concrete, unresponsive and blood pooling out from his head all over the concrete.

I didn't hear anything about it on the news, as of yet.

U seen the one of the woman in wheelchair being attacked? The black woman punching her in the head and people throwing thinks at her?

I think the issue is, the message of the peaceful protestors - for some people who don't understand the nuances of how our country operates (and some even live in this country) - is sometimes being overshadowed by the looters and rioters who don't neccesarily represent, or even care, about what the message is we are protesting for and are using this for selfish benefit and/or to vent anger, further complicated from months of lockdown from the pandemic.

Now, to be fair, most of the mass protesting lately has been peaceful and some of the early looting and insane anger and rioting has slowly taperd off.

MSM won't cover the peaceful protest. Only the violent ones, so we don't have a real grasp of what's happening out there, only their preferred version of it.

I agree, the current situation is compounded by months of lockdown.

What's going thru my head right now is 'what IS effective'? Peaceful demonstrations supposedly don't get the attention. Violent protests lead quickly to riots, which escalate and misdirect attention.

I liked the Colorado protest, where everyone just laid out on the grounds of the capital = very visual, shows large united message. It avoids the destruction of riots, but still gets the message out...but is it effective beyond that? Just spitballing, but I could see a return of the old 60's sit ins. Police and/or laws need changing? Have several hundred folks sit in public spaces that constrain (not block, but make difficult) passage or normal operation (ie, at and around the police station). It gets the same large unified peaceful message out, and effectively chokes the system (you can only hold so many folks before jails are full, courts will be swamped, etc). It says WE THE PEOPLE do not accept status quo, and your status quo will grind to a halt unless you change. THAT, to me, affects a change beyond just getting the word out. I'd expect judges would end up dismissing in such a large number of cases. If the public sits in on their state or federal congressional sessions, legislators will get the message that their citizens want a change and are watching them while they do their job of making/changing laws.

There's probably other ways, but that's all I can think of on short order that is non-destructive AND effective.

This one is complex. First of all, anyone who politicized this by using "radical left", is already not on good ground
Sounds like something a radical leftist would say.
If they are a direct or indirect cause of death then they need to be called out.

Second of all, at least two of these people were in law enforcement of some type - representing, symbolically, the system and it's inherent problems.
Sounds like you're almost justifying the deaths of two black people for symbolic reasons.
So black lives who've worked their whole lives to protect the public (if they were good cops) mean less?
Or do all cops deserve to die in general?

I'm just saying it's complicated, much more than this Tweet would lead one to believe.
It proves that black lives don't actually matter to these people.
They just lie in order to seize power.

Those people died as a result of the riots.
If one death can start all of this, then how many people need to die before shit changes?
How long before people say "hey maybe this wasn't as a good of an idea as I thought".

Well, at least some people in your country understand.
These are the same idiots that would stand outside clapping like a buffoon for the NHS.
Easily-led, virtue-signalling DRONES.
Next month it's going to be walk around on your hands and knees like a dog to protest animal cruelty.

I feel bad for the protesters.

But they're out there putting themselves and their own families at risk right now. This isn't an ordinary protest, it's a massive public gathering in the middle of a historic epidemic. Star Trek is cheesy but relevant: "The wind does not respect a fool".

SARS-CoV-2 doesn't care if you're right. It doesn't care how many centuries your family has been oppressed. It will kill your dad anyway. It's a virus. It's not even alive. It exists for the sole purpose of killing people. Like hurricanes and earthquakes, it's not fair or moral or just, and you can't argue with it.

I'm not looking forward to seeing how many people die after these protests, but it's a safe bet that the coronavirus will take many more innocent lives than the cops have this past week.

CNN has actually been showing tons of images like that and been talking allot about the violence/looting; just wanted to point that out.
When I had a look at CNN they refused to even use the word "riots". They were always framed as "protesters"

yep - they're lying down for 8 minutes and 46 seconds. it's very powerful.
White liberals are so cringe.

but it's a safe bet that the coronavirus will take many more innocent lives than the cops have this past week.
I wouldn't say that's a safe bet at all. These protests might just expose the fake corona-chan hype. Also why does everyone suddenly not give a crap about social distancing?

Again, conveniently leaving out certain phrases in my posts to argue your nonsese.

By the way, I'm not even close to a radical left. I think both radical left and radical right are a bunch of whackos. I'm slightly right for the most part, but I also try to look at things from an unbiased perspective. The only people who can't do that, like you, love to take certain phrases and spin them out of context.

I specifically said I wasn't trying to argue their lives different matter. Saying something is complicated isn't justifying anything, it literally just means it's complicated.

Open your mind up.

*yawn* another radical leftist who cannot critically assess information.
Studies show that conservatives read both conservative and liberal news while liberals only read their own.
I've undoubtedly noticed a pattern of leftists attacking the leanings of a source to discredit them when it reports on something they don't like.

It's only complicated because you have to do mental gymnastics to somehow reconcile the narrative that George Floyd's life is more important than another black person who was killed by a protester/rioter.

Also, what the fuck? That article simply reports on something that CNN anchor Chris Cuomo said himself - and you can click the fucking video to verify it yourself.

I can't deal with this level of retardation anymore.

i'm told that cnn is the worst of the worst of mainstream media. they're covering it.

CNN has actually been showing tons of images like that and been talking allot about the violence/looting; just wanted to point that out.

Good!

And on this? (of course, Fox is dogging MSM rather than doing their own reporting)

CNN did not mention on-air David Dorn, retired St. Louis police captain killed by looters

...
Dorn, 77, suffered a gunshot wound to his torso about 2:30 a.m. Tuesday and died on a sidewalk in front of the looted shop, Lee's Pawn & Jewelry, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported.

CNN did not mention Dorn by name on air from the time the news broke through Wednesday at 10:45 a.m., according to a search of the network’s transcripts.
...

because calling out other news agencies is more important than bringing your slanted view the truth to your viewers. Doesn't change the avoidance of coverage by CNN.
