Hello all, I'm rather new to shroom hunting. This is my second round, the first round I found 2 nice Pluteus Salicinus but not enough to get a trip, but they got me a decent high and some distortion. Anyways, I found some babies growing. I'll post the pictures first, then ask my questions second.

Isn't he so cute? He's the biggest one I found, growing all alone in his lonesomeness. He's the lone wolf.

Here are about 7 or more babies growing on small remnants of a tree. So cute I just want to eat them up, but I can't cause they're not old enough to die :<

Anyways. I'd like to know how long will it take for them to mature? I believe they started growing about a week ago when the storms came. Also, how much will I need to get a good trip? I heard you'd need about 5... but I'd like to hear an experts comment.

It is NEVER a good idea to eat mushrooms that you found growing in the woods or anywhere. There are many species of mushrooms that can mimic a psychedelic mushroom but are very poisonous. Do not consume any mushroom without knowing exactly what genus and species it is, for 100% sure. Be safe.

And please do not rely on those pictures for good identification. If one wants to identify mushrooms one must do much more, including making spore prints and looking at spores under a microscope. You are better off letting those little fellas get eaten by a stork or a donkey or a rhinoceros or a unicorn.

I appreciate the concerns, however I already identified mature versions of these shrooms in the same locations. Also, keep in mind I'm not going to be able to fully identify, or eat these shrooms till they've grown mature. Which I would like to know how long until they will be mature. I'm fairly certain they're going to be the same as the previous ones as they're the only type that have grown in my area.

First buy this

Then buy a microscope

Then wait until the veil around the gills tears away, wait another day, then take a cap, do a spore print, ID under a microscope.

If you are unwilling to buy a microscope, you can possibly take it to a local college biology dept and see if they'll let you use one.

Do not, under any circumstances, eat mushrooms without a positive ID. There are thousands of mushroom species that look just like what you posted.

He sounds like me may already be familiar with IDing mushrooms. At any rate, he doesn't seem like he is asking for an ID here. But those warnings given stand..learn to ID them well, and be sure of what you are picking.

I was under the impression that Pluteus salicinus had quite a low concentration of actives?

I would check on them daily, mushrooms typically unfold to their full size quite fast. And turn horrid just as quickly.
