***PHANTOM***

I’m the photo on your dashboard,
The picture in your frame
I’m a fading charcoal portrait
Reflection of your shame
I’m the girl inside the uniform
The face behind the mask
I’m the phantom in the shadows
and the future of your past

Passing on the walkways
you must see me every day
But every time you turn your back
and then you walk away
You shut out all my cries for help,
pretend you didn’t hear
But I’m the eyes inside your head,
the sounds within your ear

I’m watching you; thinking through your mind
Erasing you; to blot you out of time

I’m the gateway to your castle,
I’m the mirror on your wall
I’m the footsteps on your staircase,
the echo in your hall
I’m your ticket to the circus,
I’m your passport to the grave
I’m the fate of every dying soul
you try so hard to save

I’m watching you; thinking through your mind
Erasing you; to blot you out of time

This is one of my favorite things I ever wrote. I wrote it last February while I was all tweaked out in the desert in Tucson.

Holy fucking wow, I like this.

To comment on aspects of what you posted here specifically would turn out to be a long post quoting everything you wrote here entirely. All I'll say is that I feel I understand this song/poem quite well, as it deals with the psychological tension between `you' and unacknowledged aspects of yourself trying to get you from every possible angle. I'm certainly going to be paying attention to more of your posts on bluelight.

Well done.

I agree with Rewiiired - this is a good piece! The rhythm and rhyme in this are clean and consistant. I wonder... how much of a role do you believe meth played in the creation of it? There was a thread here a while back about the use of substances and writing...

Well, I feel like meth improves my creativity and writing skills, as well as my artistic abilities. Some people argue with me on this because I have ALWAYS been highly creative, and they insist that meth could not POSSIBLY improve anything. So I don't usually mention that for me I feel like it does. However, almost everyone who I have shared this poem with, think it's quite good, and it is one of the hundreds that I wrote while spun. So to answer your question, I feel meth improves my writing. Most people tell me that's not possible. 8)
