Do you guys think peat pellets are good to use to germinate MJ seeds? My friend wants to use them as using them would avoid shocking the young seedlings when they are transplanted into a pot. But do they have a high germination rate like say rock wool?

Also do you think those special weak fertilizers which (I think but I'm not sure) contain hormones that are used for seedlings after they germinate really help if something like peat pellets are used? Or are they a waste of money?

Yeah peat pots work fine. Best germination method I ever used was where you place the seeds inside some slightly damp paper towels and put the paper towels in a ziploc bag and then set it under compact flourescent lights until the bag acheives a balloon consistency and hs visible moisture lining the bag. I usually get about a 90% germination rate with this method. Then I put them in peat pots, but thats just me:)

yea put them under light when they sprout.

why don't u germinate on paper towel in a tupperware container?

I'll suggest that to my friend. I just thought the peat pellets were a good idea as they would prevent shocking or killing the sprouts from having to handle them when they are moved to a pot.
