VERY WEIRD AND BEYOND THE PALE
was reading an interesting interview that spoke about Kesey a bit recently, with Stewart Brand who is an odd mix of countercultural and modern corporatist visionary puts it like this --

... Kesey would say, “If you don’t boil rocks and drink the water, how do you know it won’t make you drunk?” That was a creative group, up to interesting and nefarious things. Kesey had the best thing going in the Bay Area. I sought it out and swam along with it like a pilot fish ..

Q. To your advantage or disadvantage?

Some of both. Some things in the Kesey world proved perhaps ineffective over the long run. Drugs as a great social and personal liberator turned out to be pretty much a blind alley. Later I encountered computer people who were just as stoned, but on computers, not drugs. Their stuff kept getting better, whereas drugs did not.

The “acid tests” that Kesey organized were a much more creative thing than the East Coast version, “happenings,” which were stilted and boring. The acid tests were boring, but that was the point. Throw people together, mix in a certain amount of acid, or the possibility of acid, have them go all night. People get bored. Pretty soon they will be doing interesting things with strobe lights blasting, going into the men’s rooms to pull off rolls of paper towels and start tearing them up into small pieces and tossing them into strobe lights, creating this unimaginably beautiful snowfall, this “click click click” of things coming down. So everyone started tearing paper towels and throwing them up. It was like being inside a snow globe. The only way to discover something like that is being in a situation where lots of creative people are starting to get bored.

That spirit of Kesey’s survives in Burning Man. I’m always encouraging everybody I know to go, to just get a good feeling about the future. You see there a generation of intensely creative and effective and responsible and joyous people who get off on having a week-long occasion to just bear down on putting on a fantastic show with no spectators, and that’s extraordinary. You already see spin-offs, things like Maker Faire, and they create a sense that there’s boundless personality and creativity and ways to influence one another responsibly that are still in the process of being discovered.

I feel the same way sometimes esepcially of late. Sometimes the drugs just don't do what they used to anymore.

The drugs by themselves feel pointless.

I look more to creative outlets, to thinking outlets to art politics etc

I feel inwardly distressed in the midst of all of this particularly once oyur talking politics
becusae there is just so much distressing shit out there

now, there's a couple perspectives you could take on this
maybe i need a proper whopping dose of LSD
but time is so fleeting and the last hours of a session especially are always so manicky and paranoid for me these days

I went to a museum last week on about 200 mics, saw a great many beautiful things, had a wonderful intellectual/aesthetic/archetypical day and then a walka round the city and a few cocktails, and then paranoid political talk, and then just a bit of gritty darkness ...

I wrote a short story that is sort of the anti-trip report not about that experience but with the psychedelic experience generally.

To me, LSD feels extremely hollow without integration with either external or internal creativity. I must subject myself to music or artwork, or play music, for the experience to be complete -- this allows me to continuously push boundaries and explore new territory within myself, and consistently rewards me with unspeakably deep trips.

A DMT breakthrough, on the other hand, seems to be a form of art in itself.

I have not had a mushroom experience yet, so I cannot comment.

Actually... I really don't think this stuff is M1. I've had it plenty of times before... For one, you can never get away with more than 5 hours peaking M1 tops before the cathinone stimulation becomes apparent and at 8 hours its abort with Xanax or 190+BPM land and then Xanax...

My total ended up being 1.7g in 30 hours... the stimulation didn't start until I let myself come down so I could not have dilated pupils when I did my breathalyzer - was almost completely down and then took 122mg. This barely gave me any euphoria and then I was stuck in cathinone stim land - but it still wasn't as severe as M1 stim land - even given my 40 hours of being awake (which I can't do ... ever). So whatever it is, I quite like it... I just need to find a way to take my mind off the fiending because that continued for a good 9 hours today too.

Looking back on it, my crash today was nowhere near as bad as when I used to eat pills... and the only time I was ever able to maintain a roll for 24 hours was on MDE. I guess I'm not used to come downs.

Oh well it looks like I kicked smoking somewhere in there... usually smoke more than a pack a day and I've had one cigarette since I woke up at 10:30AM and its now 1:45AM... Speaking of which, I'm going to bed. Night all!

That's a shame man, thanks for considering it though We really need some actual tune right now, you know a few chords to get some direction so others know where to go with it musically.
