I was one of the poor saps who spent the 600$ to get one in 1993 only to have it die.

Still, it was WAY ahead of its time. 32bit graphics vs the 16bit playstation....

Plus it had room for an improved CPU/GPU which was scheduled to be released before Panasonic sold out.

Check out a clip of the intro to a series called gex (I think geico ripped their lizard off this game):

Remember that this was in 1993 pretty damned good graphics for that era.

Anyone else out there ever own a 3DO? What did you think of the system?

I also spent countless hours playing the original alone in the dark and alone in the dark 2

Plus there was a real cool game you built those elaborate machines like have a bowling ball roll down a metal wire hit a balloon that blows up an arrow launching another ball into a basket. I forget the name of those machines or the game.

I think I am going to have to go up in the attic and find my 3DO and play it again.

The graphics compare to the Nintendo WII and again it was released in 1993!

Also like I mentioned it had plans for even more improved graphics before its sellout.

I remember this one. I was even dumber than you, and I purchased an Atari Jaguar!8o8o There was a fighting game like mortal kombat on the 3DO called way of the warrior....fun times playing that game high.

At least the Jaguar had a nice homebrew community for a long time after its failure so it wasn't completely useless.

The nice thing about the 3DO was the fact they had no copy protection or region settings. Just rent games (err uuhh I mean buy them), throw them in a computer and burn them (uhh back up copies you already own I mean) and you were good to go. ;)

hmm, I figured it was 16 bit, the graphics do not compare to the 3do at all but i checked you are right it is 32 bit.

LOL 3do. My cousin who lived with me had one, so i practically had one. It was actually a decent system just ridiculously overpriced. Doom and Road Rash were the main games i Played. There was also another quiz show game that had like uncle Fez who was a candy dispenser character and a couple other goofy guys and girls, forgot the name.
