Palestine discussion

yes me so stupid so eli5, how are hamas ethnically cleansing jews?
Dawg it literally is written into their constitution.... every single diplomatic demand they have made involves killing Jews and erasing Israel and their religious capital of Jerusalem.

Every single ceasefire or hostage trade has been declined because they want to erase the Jewish state.

They have fired tens of thousands of missiles at civilian targets.

Then on a greater historical scale look at every Muslim nation and how Jews were persecuted over the last 80 years causing a 99% forced exodus of Jews from their countries.

How is that anything but ethnic cleansing?

Oh wait, I forgot, it's OK to ethnically cleanse "white" people, simply justified revenge. It's only possible to ethnically cleanse brown people right?

Now millions of American Muslims boycotted Kamala, I can understand that on a "caveman level", but it was a moot boycott. It's not like the GOP is going to be kinder or more giving to Palestine...

I don't think think it was the GOP they are focused on, and it's more Trump. He has nearly a 40 year history of hating middle east wars, and did well in his first term with the middle east including the Abraham Accords, so that's maybe where a lot of their support came from

Lol yeah, I doubt Kamala would've appointed Mike Huckabee.
They played themselves.

So Israel is cleansing the "gentile" ethnicity from the region?

How do you suppose they do that when over 20% of Israelis are non-Jewish?

Ethnic cleansing implies you are deliberately killing or otherwise removing a specific ethnic group in order to make your country ethnically homogeneous. So leaving aside the fact that "gentile" is not an ethnicity.... why would they target non Jews in Palestine when so many non Jews already live happily in Israel?

I would suggest focusing on facts and leaving these loaded nonsense talking points aside. There are plenty of valid issues you could be bringing up, but instead for the last year you've relied on these silly lies and false characterizations.

actually, that's not neccessarily the case, as we've discussed before except you just ignore it...

"gentile" is not an ethnicity.
let's say i let you win the semantics battle: it won't change the reality of what's happening on the ground in gaza.

you know i was being a smartass, because you won't accept "people who aren't netanyahu's boiiis"... you want me to go "palestinians" so you can pretend you've got an aha- gotcha with "palestinian isn't an ethnicity" and then i find a definition where palestinian is an ethnicity because it's a human made word with many legit definitions and is a pretty amorphous thing with arbitrary boundaries (unless you're one of those silly race realists i guess); alternately, i have found definitions of ethnic cleansing that satisfy your, no doubt, in- earnest concerns like this one i think quas up there may have been alluding to:

rendering an area ethnically homogeneous by using force or intimidation to remove persons of given groups from the area.

from a commission sent by the u.n. to investigate yugoslavia... as i have been getting at for months and months to, it doesn't really even matter

you won't even in good faith address those two points in this long and snake like discussion, so i'm not getting into this stupid semantics battle with you about it any more

Yeah just because you can go find a definition that fits your narrative that is counter to how the word has been used historically in every other context doesn't mean much.

You say ethnic cleansing because you want to attach racial connotations to this situation. You need to set up a big bad racist boogeyman. The millions of Arab Jews in Israel are ethnically indistinguishable from the Arab Palestinians . It is fundamentally a ridiculous point.

You dodged all of my points of discussion,
why would i continue on until we fix your mistake? it's about gaza, not israel proper. we aren't discussing the same thing.

because you can go find a definition that fits your narrative that is counter to how the word has been used historically in every other context
huh? you just pulled that RIGHT from a dark place
The millions of Arab Jews in Israel are ethnically indistinguishable from the Arab Palestinians
that was my point about how race realism is stupid. ethnicity is a an arbitrary ass term... fuck, i fell for the bait again, ha ha jokes on me you win mal

A while back a young coworker of mine, referring to the Israel/Palestine conflict, asked me
"So, which side are you on?"
I considered the enormous complexity of the entire situation before I answered
"The correct one."

And I stand by my answer. I am absolutely on the correct side of the earth. Far away from all that nastiness.

this is simply the lamest attempt at a mic drop moment.

reading different sources and different viewpoints is absolutely to be encouraged.

just because he's reading it doesn't mean he agrees with what it says.

1//10. please try harder.

and, as ever, irony abounds.

If Trump had been caught with a copy of The Turner Diaries after Charlottesville would you have said the same thing?

i have no way of knowing that. i certainly hope not. that's my point really. it doesn't matter if it's biden and this book or trump and that book...

this is adding 2 and 2 to get whatever the hell you want and it's why politics discussion sucks.

he's reading a book. i think it's fine to speculate why but that is just that. speculation.
