Last going off I would take 160-180 mg of instant release OxyIR. My doc has since put me on Oxycontin timed release. I got a bit confused, not thinking and just downed 5 OC 80s. Now I am less really worried than paranoid... With my tolerance for 180mg instant release, I should be ok with 400mg over 12 hours right?

You can essentially double your dose from IR to ER and not feel a difference. What you took will be a little stronger than what you're used to and last a lot longer. The higher your tolerance, the larger the window is between a therapeutic dose and overdose and given your high tolerance to IR and the ER dose you took, I can't imagine you'd be in danger but as has been said; take necessary precautions.

It'd be good if you could have someone around to keep an eye on you and check on you and if you feel like the effects are becoming too strong, intervene by calling 9-1-1 or taking other steps ASAP.

We can't tell you with any certainty if you'll be fine or will need help.

You would take between 160 - 180 mg all in one go and not throughout the day? As in, you've got a glass of water, and you're taking 160 mg (something like five or six 30 mg OxyIR tablets) down the hatch all at once?

That's a lot of oxycodone, my man, but if that's true then yes, you should be fine. If I remember correctly, and I hope that someone here will correct me if I'm wrong, OxyContin's time release works by releasing a quarter of its dose every three hours. So, if you've taken 5 OC 80s, then that's 100 mg every three hours, and so I would imagine that you'd be all right.

Most I've done was 8 x 20mg IR tablets in one swallow, followed by 2 x 20mg IR tablets 20 minutes later. So far I am feeling barely anything from these 80s other than mild drowseyness so I think I will play an hour of video games and hit the sack.

I agree, completely useless post
Oh and to the op if you want to do away with the time release couldnt you chew the pill?

^ short answer - if it's the original formula OC, yes. If it's the new OP formulation, no.

Well I went to sleep and woke up to post about it (although I definitely blacked out ultimately) so all is well that ends well.

Just for the information of those that care, the injury that caused my need for the oxy has been resolved. When I needed them I took the IR because it worked for my pain and I could get high. Now that it is time to quit I have moved to the timerelease because they work for post op pain and they keep away the WD's but I don't get the slightest buzz from them, so there is no desire to take more/abuse them. This makes it very easy to taper my dose and stop altogether. Last night really was a stupid accident on my part.

The oxy ride was fun while it lasted but now it's time to get off.
