serves em right.

alot of people i know started this thinking it was like 50 notches down from heroin.

but its pretty much the same. infact i prefer oxy over heroin.
I wouldnt go that far, but yeah this is kinda what they should have expected. I mean, 80mgs of Oxycodone in a pill with JUST a wax matrix to protect it IS GOING to be abused.

riiight

"Many young people mistakenly believe today that prescription drugs are safer than other drugs," Jones said.

ok, first, apparently Judge JJ has never purchased street drugs, let alone the only non-pharm opiates available: opium or heroin. i KNOW! i am surprised too! with a name like jim jones, i thought he would have wanted to walk with jesus at least once.

prescription drugs ARE safer than drugs bought from some random dude on the street. like tmoney just said, above, 0.1% off-dose rate for name-brands like perdue. might that sound a little safer than heroin cut with solvent? what an asshole thing to say for that judge. the hyperactive FDA is the most restrictive government medicine regulator in the world.

and besides, oxycodone is not heroin!

i am sick of hearing that comparison. further than comparing the CNS-depression opiate effect they obviously both produce, they are totally different beasts. (and to the experienced, the highs really are different) any person that buys into the sensationalist media's description of oxy being as dangerous as heroin is ignorant and/or stupid.

oxycodone may be more attainable for some (certainly fucking not for me :( ) which would increase its perceived danger... but to the individual user, they just aren't comparable. i prefer oxy because i am not a junkie. if i was, i wouldn't care as much about my health, and i would probably want something easier to get and cheaper. here in seattle, that's heroin. and it's really fucked up.

realistically, the more oxy is vilified in the media, the closer we get to the increased availability of the next ultra-potent thebane analog. oxymorphone, anyone? its strongest derviative is 14-cinnamyl 3-acetyl ester, which is over 200 times more potent than morphine. 200 times! not that they'd exclusively use that derivative for a drug, but i can see it now: people with be like "only 1 mg? how safe! what a great substitute for that evil oxycontin!"

soon the multi-billion dollar, completely unstoppable pharm corporations will pay a market research company millions of dollars to figure out the most non-offensive name, shape and color for the pill... and keep on giving the consumers what they want.

pshh.

p.s. fuck the rich though! anyone as filthy rich as the perdue pharm heads deserve to get fucked with. and out of all the ways to manufacture painkillers that would prevent recreational use, they went on making it the same way. it's like they wanted the users out there to be able to get addicted so they could further increase sales... god bless their souls. wait, i mean, god damn them to HELL!!! :\ well, anyhoo it seems that is more reproachable than deliberate "misbranding".

Remember that when you're complaining that Joe Sixpence small time dealer is being called a murderer after one of his clients ODs and hes charged with manslaughter.

"Don't worry this weapon will only be used on people unlike you."

wow, bad parenting

easy to throw that phrase around. parents cannot be solely to blame in many of these cases. From personal experience and many testimonies of people known at the age 14-18, some of the best parents in the world can be oblivious to the habits of their children right in front of their eyes.
