Oxycodone & Hydrocodone

I was in L.A. last year when I copped apendicitis and had to have surgery. In hospital they gave me IV morphine, IV fentanyl (very nice), IM dilaudid (hydromorphone - also very nice) and a presciption for 30xVicodin (5mg hydrocodone/500mg paracetamol).

The vicodin was nice enough but nothing special. I think given the fact that doctors can prescribe something slightly stronger or slightly weaker than hydrocodone makes it kinda redundant though. You're not missing out on much....

Although I do have to add that I think panadeine forte (30mg codeine with paracetamol) is way overprescribed in Australia and endone (5mg oxy with paracetamol) is underprescribed. I think endone is justified post-operatively.

not sure mate. in fact i'm not even certain it was actually prescribed here, as the cough syrup which I'm referring to was from [removed] so now that I think of it I guess it's likely that it was prescribed with SA* (Special Access Scheme or something similar in name... it allows doctors to import a drug if it isnt approved by the TGA, assuming that the dr takes the risk... its done with naltrexone implants too for serious heroin addicts)
I can't think of the name of this medicine but if you really want to know search my posts, I think it was in a post dedicated to exactly the same topic (hydrocodone in Australia)

I was almost prescribed the 10mg endones after fracturing two vertebrae in my back, which is just IR oxycodone AFAIK. But the horrible, horrible failure of a doctor ended up giving me pandeine forte and a ridiculously small amount of valium when I was in so much pain I couldn't move.

I've also had the 5mg endones before, not off the street though. Very nice, and don't understand how the person above could've had a reaction like that and still enjoy other opiates...

Fuck yea..so many of my family friends/relatives/friends are prescribed forte's...

They are in abundance that's for sure :)

like vicodeine what tht like compared to oxys
yeah we get all sorts of oxys here
i tried 5mg oxys endon and the 80mg ones

well codeine can be OTC up to 15mg per tablet
and morphine well its morphine harder to get than oxys in australia
 
Take it from an American hydrocodone aint that special its a little weaker than oxys. I would trade not having vicoden for some OTC opiates.
 
So there's absolutely no OTC codeine, all has to have a prescription?

What about things like dihydrocodeine in cough syrups?
 
Thought I'd just chuck this in here because it's sort of relevant.

Getting some methadone soon, got a pretty low tolerance to opiates but I've had a bit of exp.

Whats a good starting dosage?
 
i've seen oxy in 5, 20 and 40mg tabs, it's around but not all the time :(

One of the reasns its was discontinued was because codeine is most often used here along with tramadol for mild/medium pain then it goes straight to oxy/morphine to moderate to high pain and fentanyl to people who are really messed up. Methadone and hydromorphone are rarely used but is still sometimes used.

10mg is good for someone with no tolerance and it will mess you up for a whole day so dont take some and think its crap and go taking alot more because methadone has one of the highest OD ratios for all the ope drugs. I thought methadone was crap but maybe I didnt have enough.
 
^ Oxycodone is supposed to be somewhat more stimulating; a lot of oxy users in OD says that it motivates them, rather then just lying around doped up.

Hydrocodone would be similar to codeine/morphine.
 
^ i've found the first hour or 2 to be stimulating, with rushes of euphoria and social, then it begins to become overwhelming and i'm in bed nodding :)
 
Yeah I definitely found that with oxy back when I had a constant source. This is the kind of drug I could take and it would affect me like E or speed, I would be out socialising and hooking up with 5 chicks in one night. The best part was the complete imbalance between the high and the comedown.

One thing I noticed was that I only got this with oxycontin, and not with endone (instant release oxycodone). Has anyone else found this or was this just me being a douche? I'd be interested to know this. It really doesnt make sense, as I would usually crush the oxy in my mouth. The only way it could really make sense would be if the manufacturers of oxy secretly added something else to it.
 
Never seen hydrocodone here but as for oxycodone, ive come across Endone (5mg IR tablets) and OxyNorm 20s (20mg IR capsules), heard theres 40mg caps around too.
 
My mum just got out ov hospital, I had a look at her meds, she has endone 5mg, how do I use for recreation? I have no opiate tolerance, do I ingest them? if not, how many should I crush and slam to feel good?
 
How about you wait and see if she needs them first? If she doesn't then 10mg chewed up on an empty stomach should get you going.

That is really, really mean. Let her have them because if she was prescribed them then she probably needs them. Do you really want your mum to be in pain?
 
oh yeh, "just got out of hospital" means 2 weeks ago heh, and the pack is still full. How does calculating doses work out? I mean taking 2x 5mg pills = 10mg? is it really that simple to measure dosages like that (for opiate based medicine)?
