Oxy Abuse Kills!!!!

Except for the part about Oxy being very addictive and having worse withdrawal symptoms than heroin, and a blatant abuse of THE CAPS LOCK, I didn't see too much bullshit on this page. Bias, yes, but not misinformation. It's just sad, because you can tell how VERY FUCKING ANGRY this parent is at losing a child.
 
It is *completly* understandable why this parent is outraged, she lost her son in a way that should *never* happen, and of course her oppinion of Oxy is biased, and that's also understandable, for she only knows of the destructiveness it *can* and *will* cause in a small number of people, *but* still this does not make up for the fact that there *are* people who can *use* oxycontin in arecreational way and be *smart* about it, obviously if used correctly it poses no threat to physical or mental health, therefore *if* used right, it can be a wonderful thing, so this is the reason bluelight is here, education, maybe if he was on here reading posts on how *not* do drink while taking oxy as it could be a *lethal* combonation, not to metion, the mother mentioned he had something *besides* alchohol and oxy...hmm??, maybe coke.. ugh..
I really feel terrible about her son, and a lesson should be learned.. so something like this will never happen again.

In all honesty, there isn't that much mis-information on the site - while it is one-sided, they are not really saying anything that isn't accurate.. in fact, their section: "What to do if You think your friend is in danger of an OVERDOSE?" actually gives some good advice...
But yes, it's a knee-jerk reaction to a childs death, there is NO POINT in trying to talk reason into the guy, he is not going to listen..
Honestly, I say leave the guy alone unless you want to talk reasonably with him... we don't need a bunch of BL'ers mail him with "YUO ARE A FUCKER!!! OXY RULES!!! FUCK YOUR DEAD SON IN THE SKULL!!!!" ..

Wow! That statement is definately disturbing. An overdose can happen to anyone, even experienced BL's, as some of us around here know. I didn't read the article, but after reading the above replies, I've got the general idea.
Any person who loses a son/daughter to an OD would speak out in rage. In their eyes drugs are complete evilness. IT COULD BE YOU NEXT TIME, so don't ever wish upon death or speak of ODing as 'natural selection'. I bet if you lost a close friend or family member you'd think about your drug use twice. I am not saying that you would quit, but it would be on your mind when you do use. As a frequent drug user, I find that it sometimes is stronger than knowledge.
Here some of us sit, reading about deaths and mocking it. Why not use your knowledge and educate people around you? I try to as much as I can, even if I don't want too. It's fun to have people around to enjoy drugs and life with, instead of them all dying because all you do is care about yourself.
 
The kid didn't OD, he died from mixing oxy + alcohol + benzo + ?
It's dumb and it's sad, end of story.
And never take an anarchist too seriously. Unless he's holding a detonater.

I think what that kids dad did is good more people do need to realize the fucking danger of UNRESPONSIBLE, I REPEAT, UNRESPONSIBLE drug use, in any form, legal or illegal because the more FUCKING IDIOTS who use and abuse then die the harder it will be for the rest of us to prove that drugs can be alright if we would just educate ourselfs and use a little fucking self control.

As biased as it was, that page contained very little misinformation.
Blazintos-- used in moderation, oxycontin and cocaine is a fairly safe combo.
DJtonedeaf-- are you implying that oxycodone is not highly addictive?

Yeah my friend took 2 valiums...waited about 4 hours..took 80 mg of percodin...drank 1/4 a bottle of vodka..and he was pretty fucked up.
To my surprise he was taking it all pretty well.
But in my opinion...don't do shit like that. It's fuckin stupid to mix all those downers.

Yeah, blame somebody else. Since most kids today can't pick out the USA on a map of North America I'd say we shouldn't add anything to the curriculum. Perhaps the parents should educate THEIR CHILDREN about drugs instead of relying on someone else!

Only a fool would dispute that it cannot kill you. I hope she doesn't think she made a groundbreaking discovery. Most people using oxy are aware of its power. It sounds like her son (God rest his soul) was absolutely clueless and was utterly irresponsible. A horrible combination. If only he would have come to this site a few months back, he might've been able to turn that tragic night into a trip report.
 
Well, after reading through the article... yeah, it's easy to tell that the parent was upset... that is only natural. But, as far as this site being radically misinformative? Perhaps, ecstacii, you need to brush up on your knowledge before you start making presumptions about someone's commentary just because it ~looks~ like it would be another fishy site. They've got their stuff pretty well in line, right down to the disclamers at the bottom of the page.

well i dont see anything wrong with that page what so ever. She proclaimed that ABUSE kills.. not just taking the drug, she said this OVER AND OVER. So....what is wrong with the page?

The blame should not be placed on others who have no responsibility in this young mans death, but she lost her son. She is angry. Parent's should educate their children on drug use, but where do they get the correct education so they can? I am sure most of the parents have no idea what oxy is. How can you have someone educating children who have no clue themselves? Unfortunately the universal way of teaching children about drugs is "Just say no to drugs , now go watch TV." I believe strongly in harm reduction, but by blasting this mother with profanity and ignorant remarks only makes those supporting harm reduction look like complete imbeciles. I wish there were more qualified people to educate parents and children about drug use and interaction. I believe those who use drugs have some responsibility in sharing their knowledge. How else do you expect people to see your side?
