Unfortunately this has also eventuated
I sincerely hope I am wrong about everything
what's the real story, I guess some moron manager thinks seeds aren't essential limited imagination is why they find themselves managers at supermarket.
Doesn't say you can't just steal the seeds....
Just three weeks into the lockdown, the Food Foundation said that 1.5 million Britons reported not eating for a whole day because they had no money or access to food. Some 3 million people in total were in households where someone had been forced to skip some meals. More than 1 million people reported losing all their income because of the pandemic, with over a third of them believing they would not be entitled to any government help.
The foundation’s findings are based on a YouGov poll carried out across England, Scotland and Wales this week. Its director, Anna Taylor, said the crisis was too big to be left to food banks and local authorities without funding.
Not really on topic of what you’ve wrote but what do you think of virgin making the ventilators and formula 1 making cpap devices?
where I’m living we have normal people making face shields for frontline staff and people sewing scrubs. How mental is it that this even needs done? How are factories not able to up production for things like ventilators and PPE. I’m so confused.
Why the world is hungry for a coronavirus drug made in India
Hydroxychloroquine is an anti-malarial drug produced mostly in India, and pushed by US President Trump as a COVID-19 treatment, despite limited clinical evidence it is effective. Now other countries have joined the hype.

"Critical thinking is next season's fashion trend!"
The way this drug is reported by the media as something "touted by Trump" really does a disservice to the fact that there are already multiple clinical trials showing effectiveness against COVID-19 in severely affected patients, and South Korea successfully used it as a treatment and check out their numbers!
I hope we don't get people against the use of this medication for treatment of COVID-19 when the data keeps coming back proving it is effective just purely because Trump tweeted about it and therefore it must be bad. Fuckin' media.
We can't just start using a drug just cause early indications suggest it might have positive benefits.
There are other people we KNOW need it who are now experiencing shortages. And this approach could wind up harming people in all sorts of other ways.
Er ethically of course you can, because there is no standard treatment licensed for use, HCQ is licensed for other conditions so it is up to physicians to use their discretion to prescribe off label. Remember most prescriptions are actually technically off label. Luckily you don't have to make these decisions, and neither do I.
There you go doing that that we thing again. I remain concerned by your frequent we problem, have you spoken to someone about it? You do not speak for me and neither do you speak for the people trying their damnedest to fix things. so when you say we I suspect you mean I and are trying to puff it up into something else.
I will admit to trying to figure you out, a working hypothesis is that you went from non-conformist junkie to ultra conformist ex junkie and have overcompensated just a bit. You are clearly intelligent but that intelligence seems to not drive you, validation and conformity seems to be what you seek. You are running your very own personal hegleian dialectic. But that is just a hypothesis. A fascinating example.
One under appreciated benefit is that the antimalarial effects will prevent malaria from taking hold in the USA. All thanks to hydroxychloroquine.
HCQ is very easy to make and those with Lupus and similar should have been prescribed sufficient to last many months, they were in most cases. There are multi ton per week batches being made in China.
I would rather see a RCT but beggars can't be choosers.
What a dismissively ignorant comment. I just disproved the entire justification for locking down the economy and you feel the need to troll for some reason.
Right now there is only evidence from a few very-small randomized controlled trials (please correct me if you have come across others). One Chinese and one French study showed no benefit, while another Chinese study showed a benefit. Effects found in small trials often disappear in larger trials. It's clear this is no miracle drug but it may or may not have an effect, positive or negative. Too early to tell. The way this drug is reported by the media as something "touted by Trump" really does a disservice to the fact that there are already multiple clinical trials showing effectiveness against COVID-19 in severely affected patients, and South Korea successfully used it as a treatment and check out their numbers!

Exactly, but with the proviso that doing nothing once you are on a vent it is a coin toss, literally a coin toss whether you make it. There is the normal standard of care and the normal standard of care plus HCQ or remdesivir or whatever other random experimental is around.Right now there is only evidence from a few very-small randomized controlled trials (please correct me if you have come across others). Trump touting so early is highly irresponsible.
Even if it turns out to be effective, it was still irresponsible. If you jump the gun like that as a matter of course, people will die as a result. Just cause he might get lucky this time changes nothing.
Although personally I'm still very skeptical that'll be the outcome. I think it's far more likely it'll turn out to be worthless. Another bs trump claim like that the virus would have disappeared by now.
Id love very much to be wrong, but I doubt it. I think when the proper studies are done we will find it has little to no benefit.
