The real story is that we're facing serious global famine and this is just the obvious cracks beginning to show.
I've been warning this for years. I believe 3 states have laws prohibiting seed sales you might still be able to order them online. For now.
Soon there won't be many left. I'm seeing shortages in developed countries and I'm starting to get a bit concerned!
Just caught 60 Minutes Australia and they're only just now discussing food shortages and potential food rationing via the mainstream media. Getting people slowly acclimatized to the idea.
They're blaming it on the virus though - of course - and also mismanagement of water allocation. Our water is going to farmland that is owned by overseas companies. China's known what was coming for a while and have bought up farmland all over the place to try and ensure the food security of their 1.3 billion. The TV program was talking about Aus not having much rice in the near future because the vast majority is imported from China and now countries are holding onto their reserves.
I was shocked to find out that the USA has zero grain reserves.

Don't forget, governments around the world have known about this and they've put us in the worst possible position to survive. There has been a concerted war against our food supply for many years and now it's come to the point where we're witnessing the severity of it. And they're going to blame it all on the virus. But I will wait and see if the truth ever comes out and if people are held accountable. In the meantime I strongly suggest to (calmly) store as much food as you can and grow as much food as you can. Also inform others who have the means. If everyone was doing this then we'd be relatively fine and be able to form more locally-connected networks in order to sustain ourselves.

Unfortunately that isn't happening.

Not really on topic of what you’ve wrote but what do you think of virgin making the ventilators and formula 1 making cpap devices?
where I’m living we have normal people making face shields for frontline staff and people sewing scrubs. How mental is it that this even needs done? How are factories not able to up production for things like ventilators and PPE. I’m so confused.

I think it's great that so many companies have retooled their factories and R&D efforts to helping the situation. And even companies without the resources to actually produce ventilators are donating them, or PPE or other helpful things, for free to hospitals.

I don't think it's surprising this needs to be done. COVID-19 came out of nowhere and lead to a huge and sudden spike in demand for ventilators and other equipment. It takes time to increase production of such things especially with supply chains already hit by the effects of global lockdowns. The fact other companies are able to step in and help the situation is pretty inspiring.

Also have you seen the Tesla ventilator prototype? They've literally made a working ventilator out of car parts to avoid using the stretched medical supply chain. Just purely on an engineering level this is super impressive.

^Ugh, talk about examples of intense overreaction/over-reach. Fortunately, in my mind, this is stuff that is not being mandated at all on the federal level, but instead by states who seem to be succumbing to pressure to be seen as being effective enough. It also points to preferential treatment towards big businesses (allowing McDonald's drive-thru but not something smaller/non-profit). A ban on selling nonessential items from a store that is still allow to sell items makes no sense at all to me. To me this screams of the overblown levels of fear sweeping through society, moreso than a plot to take away freedoms for nefarious purposes. But I accept it could be the latter, I'm not ready to believe that just yet though. The last one is most potentially worrisome as a permanent level of individual tracking would be very worrisome. However even this case could very well be a temporary attempt to reduce gatherings at churches, which would indeed be a breeding ground for greatly increasing the spread of the virus.

Obviously (or at least I thought it was obvious) "we" refers to society. The decisions made by the empowered individuals and groups of society to make decisions on its behalf. That's the "we" in this context.

One Chinese and one French study showed no benefit, while another Chinese study showed a benefit. Effects found in small trials often disappear in larger trials. It's clear this is no miracle drug but it may or may not have an effect, positive or negative. Too early to tell.

Exactly, but with the proviso that doing nothing once you are on a vent it is a coin toss, literally a coin toss whether you make it. There is the normal standard of care and the normal standard of care plus HCQ or remdesivir or whatever other random experimental is around.

I am trying to find out if Greece has something to offer, it is rumored that they use HCQ off label on admission to hospital, but there is nothing official. If anyone here knows of anybody inside the Greek medical system in a position to know please get them to contact one of the groups investigating this or if they want to do it anonymously I can give them a private way of doing this.

The need for RCT is obvious and the issues with the small trials are too numerous to mention. I personally think leave it to the physicians discretion. I have anecdotals from personal contacts who said it worked but that is just that. If it does work then it needs to be used early.

If it's being administered by doctors, in hospital where the patient can be monitored, why can't we?

Especially when the alternative is literally letting people die of something which could very well be preventable.

Ignore Trump. Look at the clinical trials. The success rates are impressive enough to warrant action given this is a novel virus with no approved treatment. Other antiviral drugs such as remdesivir also show promise.
