I have been seeing pain management for 4 years. 2 different ones not at the same time. The one I see now is being investigated and loss his license to practice. I admitted to taking more oxy's than I should have one month but never had a dirty urine. The nurse practitioner cut my dosage of Morphine from 90 mg a day to 15 and Oxy's from 4 10/325 to 2 7.5 a day. She said I have to get off pain meds. Really? My hubby now holds my pain meds in our safe and gives them to me as I'm supposed to have them. The pain in my herniated disc is unbearable!!! It seems no one cares and no one cares the withdrawls I am about to experience. I don't know where to turn. I do have have some 50 mg Trams and Xanax and Clonopine but I need the pain meds to make me not hurt and fall all the time. What do I do? There are not many pain management options in my town and I don't want to seem like a junkie just out there searching but why should one month of mistake make me have to live in pain every day? My friend suggested weed but I can't do that. Makes me sick, sleepy and I hate the feeling. I don't take the pain meds to get high just to relieve the pain. The month I took more I actually had fallen and hurt my back worse.
Need help ASAP...today starts my day of hell!!!!

:( I am sorry to hear about your story. Talk to the nurse practitioner and tell her she is being unreasonable. If she wants you off the pills completely then I would suggest you look into suboxone options. They will offer minimal pain relief but they will take away the WDs. If she wants to keep you on some type of pain management, suboxone cannot be combined with other opiate pain medication. It sounds like a tough spot you're in. I hope you find some relief soon <3.

You can get your records from the office and gather up your MRI's with presciption receipts. You're going to have to find a new pain management doctor even if you have to do some driving. It's not your fault this doctor can't practice anymore. In the meantime, just use the meds you have sparingly.

Yeah, try talking to the nurse. Do try to understand though, that despite the pain I'm sure you're in, they're really trying to do that for your own good. The problem with pain meds is that they really aren't a long-term solution. Have you spoken to a doctor about other pain management options there might be?
