Optimal use of drugs with regard to tolerance

I have a hunch that if one really wants to get the most out of their drugs, they will wait at least 24-48 hours before re-administering. I even feel this way about weed. For example I just received a fair amount of IR (instant release) dextroamphetamine. And with a trustworthy person's assistance (they'll be holding on to the bottle) I plan on waiting a full 24 hours between doses. I notice with marijuana, I simply cannot achieve a satisfying high if I'm already on the come-down of a high. I only appreciate marijuana when I'm in a completely weed-free state of mind.

Input?

It's easy to wait 24-48 hours to smoke another joint or hit another bong, but its no so easy with dextroamphetamine. When you're high on dextroamphetamine (or any amphetamine, for that matter) all caution goes out the window. When you're coming down, you're going to want your amps from whoever is holding them for you and you will not stop until you get them. Amps are the kind of drugs that just make one totally shameless, at least in my experience with them (and I'm prescribed dextroamphetamine IR's monthly for ADHD and have been for years now, plus I've done a lot of methamphetamine aswell). I guess it's possible, but it will be difficult to stay away after your start coming down.

I agree with both replies. It's much easier to plan to space out dosages to reduce tolerance but certain drugs are tricky (alcohol and amphetamines are great examples).

Opiates, nicotine, and a few others are also the same way. You can do it, but its not that easy.

Good luck [seconded] :)

It will be difficult. I am pathetic at controlling usage. Absence of the substance and or funds are usually the only way I stop (except weed).

Good Luck [thirded] :)

Take just enough for you to get high. There is no need to get high all day. Leave it alone. Save the rest for next weekend. This will avoid tolerance and habituation... Not impossible, just really hard, especially if you were "already addicted" to that certain substance.

Those are the most simple instructions.
It's YOU that will decide you want more.
But, your WILL is most definitely going to get tested if you are going to use very highly psychologically addictive drugs...

That's really all there is to it...
