So in the past 2 weeks I have noticed a very strong metallic smell coming from my skin. It comes from my chest, neck, and hands mainly. It only seems to come around when I'm in withdrawal. I know before when I was in withdrawals I would get this terrible smell, but it was nothing like this at all. Anyone else notice a smell like this from opiate withdrawals? Gonna get it checked out by my doctor soon since I can't find much about it.

It's body odor, especially if it's the same smell you get after handling a copper pipe or other metals. A substance your skin excretes gets oxidised by atmospheric oxygen thanks to the metal and produces that smell.

Do you shower regularly or wear deodorant? Are you exposed to metal dust/do you work with metals regularly?

I do both and its not that. This is a completely new smell and it only comes around when I am withdrawing lately (Even before when w/d'ing it wasn't this smell) I don't work with metal, or haven't in about 6-8 months. I was curious as to whether it could have something to do with my liver or things like that. I can take a shower, use soap,lotion,deodorant,anti-perspirant and even with all these combined the smell remains slightly.

Edit: Oh and my friend got it one day last week but that was it. Maybe it was something cut in a bag.

If it's a metallic smell only noticeable to you then it's entriely possible the cause is neurological or related to withdrawal.

If others can smell it it's a cut or something.
