How-do all :)

I have noticed that occasionally i experience fairly intense but brief spells of anxiety while under the influence of hydrocodone or codeine. It seems to be around the 3-4 hour mark or maybe shortly thereafter and also seems to come on the 3rd or 4th day of continued use. It's usually my red flag to take a break.

I've been taking baby doses between 5-10 mgs at a time and nothing over 15 mgs in a day. My schedule is roughly 3-4 days on / 2-3 days off for about 3 months now. Whenever I take the few days off I do not experience withdrawals, although the dose is not nearly as euphoric as it was when I started. So to say, I have built a slight tolerance but don't experience WD.

Anybody else get this? I have 2 theories: 1) it is a mild withdrawal because it happens around the hours that the stuff begins to leave my system and at the end of a 4 day "binge". However from what I've read, WDs shouldn't kick in for like 24 hours. or 2) I am so paranoid about becoming dependent and having WDs that I spin myself into an attack out of fear that I've gone too far this time :D

Your thoughts are appreciated :)

I've notice that opiates make me and many others more irritable and short-tempered , during the high. Have seen arguments and fights from it. Some don't really experience it, but a lot do.

That and dope dick don't seem to be talked about much.

Yeah! I have noticed that if my husband is not being "cool" about something, that it will irritate the piss outta me. Like damn dude what is your f'n problem!? You are so lame! (thought, not said, because I'm not a bitch like that)

Then I remember that he is not on the good ship lollypop like me and I feel sorry for him :)

But this is different. It's gotta be my fear of dun dun dunnnnn ..... You know what.

you're building tolerance to them, no doubt about that. and irritability after the honeymoon stage is over is most common, even while high it's common. it happens to experienced users.

you're reaching past the peak of the high and into the plateau around the times you're starting to hit irritability stage. there's two ways to avoid this 1) dose less often and more sporadic to avoid building tolerance as much as possible or, 2) increase your dose, which i don't recommend.

you probably are experiencing slight wd symptoms with a cycle as such, though they're most likely negligible because of your dosing and usage patter. i'd advise collecting a few OTC preoducts such as imodium, paracetemol, a nasal decongestant (if you're experiencing a runny nose) and an anti-histamine to help sleep if it comes to that stage. there are plenty of threads and information about combating withdrawals so have a search if need be.

I'll get irritable after using opiates ocassionally, especially if I've been using them days in a row. It's like you've built up a tolerance and your not as high as you'd like, your still happy but there's that tick that's like urgh I need a little more, especially when I'm coming down.

I find I get anxiety some times for no reasons. I do get anxiety if I take a extra dose on purpose or forgot I took it already. It's short lived mostly 1hr tops. I hate the anxiety. I think setting plays a big role in it.

I really don't feel that one could dx you however.....My initial thought are with you bmxgroupie. Maybe not "withdrawals" but I do think it is fair to assume that you are indeed feeling some negative effect. Now technically, one can't say it's due to your usage. The fact two events occur often together, technically still does not prove one is causative of the other!

Having said this, if you truly feels it's due to the usage, it's quite easy to test - stop using! Note results. Ultimately, if it is really worrying, a quick trip to the GP would help! :)

Good luck!

Those here posting re onsets of negative moods - irritation, temper issues and the such - aren't all that too uncommon.

Theoretically, paradoxal effect can present between anybody and any drug. Essentially the briefed explanation is bio-variability. That is, there can exist so much variability between one individual and another that the effects of a substance is not generally what is expected.
In this context, the effects (in this example I'll use oxycodone as it's known to be the most common for this) one in this position is expected to feel - analgesia, respirator depression, euphoria, etc - they in fact feel "opposite"-like effects (such as mentioned by THC2LSD). Personally, I'm fine if I'm alone but as soon as anyone else is in the room, for no reason they begin to irritate me.

i don't really get anxiety but do get irritated and annoyed easily. It's definitely related to dose. Lower doses i am much more chill. Sometimes the constant itching (especially my nose) annoys the shit out of me and i get irritated by anyone around me. The higher the dose i take the worse all the side effects get and i think it's mostly the side effects that end up making me irritated in the first place.
