Opiate Withdrawal Question

Hey all,

I was wondering if opiate withdrawal results from the most recent opiate you took and got addicted too, or if the road you took to get there defines the withdrawal experience... for instance; if you have a heroin addict, oxymorphone addict, and an oxycontin addict and all of them get on subtex for 6 months--- will everyone have the withdrawal related to suboxone addiction? Or will it still retain the aspects of the initial drug of abuse creating a twisted hybrid withdrawal? Or if someone went from heroin to oxycodone or something.... Would it be an oxy withdrawal, or a twisted Heroin Oxy withdrawal?

I had a theory that while you are on suboxone, the reason I felt so shitty for the first week was because my brain was in a partial withdrawal healing from the aspects suboxone lacks which my OC had, transforming my addiction to Subs instead of OC.

I'm interested to know this to help me plan for my future detox missio and to know what to expect.

it would be to the subs alone but the withdrawel would maybe be longer becouse you have been on it that much longer (full/partial agonist tho)

i dont know for sure but that makes the most sense to me (im high tho :P lame excuse)

interresting question

i would imagine that if you were on subs for six months, that would be more than long enough for any of the heroin/oxy/whatever withdrawawls to diminish. you'd likely be stuck with suboxone withdrawals, and only that.

likewise, if you switched from heroin to oxy for six months, you'd only have to deal with oxy withdrawals.

you could, however, use oxy as a manner of tapering off of heroin, if you used much smaller amounts of oxy in respect to heroin, it would make the withdrawals easier to deal with.

haha using Oxy to taper has to be one of the hardest things in the world... it might work a night or two, but when you have 5 OC80s with your name on it, its so hard not to take one of those fat lines that drips down your throat...

Thats cool to know... I was planning on doing a rapid sub detox for like 3 weeks; this way I wont have the 2 months long subutex withdrawal and instead will have the shorter-acting oxycontin withdrawal but the subs will have ease the pain and work as a taper for me. I figure since subs have such a long halflife, you eat some in the morning and as it wears off over the next 36 hours it is like a slow taper.

What do you guys think?
